This is a complete repudiation that that type of conduct is condoned or acceptable.

It will demonstrate that we do not tolerate that type of behavior and those who engage in it will be dealt with.

I doubt if the Arabs care. It would be much better if everyone in the resistance thought they could be treated in such a way. Now everyone in the world knows that American military imprisonment will be soft.

Does anyone know what our record in the past was regarding this sort of thing? I'm assuming that in any major war we've ever fought, there have been some instances of prisoner abuse. I would be surprised if this weren't the case, given the stresses of war and the fact that soldiers aren't hand-picked to include only Mr. Rogers types. Does anyone have any info on this?
