Just jumping in here, I missed Bayh's screed (yay) but Rummy was right I think, to acknowlege the possibility that he could be replaced.
To not do that would have seemed cockey. I'm sure it sounded disconcerting but remember what the President has said.

By what Rummy said he just showed the Dems that he is more of a true patriot to this country then they could ever hope to be.Where the Dems go for everything to tear down this country,Rumsfeld just showed that he would put the country ahead of himself if it was best for the U.S.This man should not step down!
