the six men arrested had traveled through China trying unsuccessfully to cross into Pakistan Battle... expressed his hostility to U.S. interests in Afghanistan and his desire to attack a local Jewish religious school or synagogue with automatic weapons.
Battle and another main codefendant, Patrice Lumumba Ford, later pled guilty to conspiracy to levy war against the United States...
I couldn't make stuff like this up if I was trying to write a political conspiracy novel. And I've the feeling it's just going to get weirder and weirder.

It's quite provocative at the least. There was a lot of wreckage at the site and much of it was bits of bags of passengers who had nothing to do with the bombing other than the ill fortune to be there when it happened. Since the piece was big enough to bear the print and obviously did not burn, it may not have been right at the center of the blast. But it sure hangs a 2 ton cloud of suspicion over Mayfield.

Mayfield's brother Kent, reached at his home in Halstead, Kan., told Reuters that his brother was a vocal critic of U.S. foreign policy but no terrorist. "I think the reason they are holding him is because he is of the Muslim faith and because he is not super happy with the Bush administration," the brother said. "So if that's a crime, well, you can burn half of us."***
Most or all of those involved in the 911 attack would have had family members crying foul too if they had been picked up prior to 911.

Here's another thought: Wonder what Mayfield's background was to have his prints on file in the first place? You can't find a match, unless you have something to match it to.

This can happen from getting booked for a petty offense (wonder if Mayfield happened to be involved in an, ahem, obtrusive protest in that area).

Have it your way.

"But when you factor in that he's a convert to Islam, then it looks more suspicious." That about sums it up for me. We are heavily infiltrated by radical muslim extremists in this country and we are so STUPID that we don't recognize it. Liberal America, all warm and fuzzy, even to our enemies! I fear for the future of my grandchildren. Our Government certainly is not looking out for their future!

Offer inducements to the fifteen year old to drop a dime on his father.

All I know is you don't get your prints on file for helping little old ladies across the street!

"Wonder what Mayfield's background was to have his prints on file in the first place?" He's both a lawyer and a former Army officer. Both require the taking of fingerprints.

A lawyer? But sharks don't have fingers!
To: Cincinatus' Wife
"It is understood that Mayfield's fingerprints matched prints found on a bag in the wreckage of the Madrid bombing." "Mayfield wife, Mona, said her husband was 'a good man, a good father, a good husband'. 'It's just unfair. It's unfair to myself and it is unfair to my children,' she said."
Life is an ongoing IQ test and this bimbo just flunked the sections entitled humanity and self-indulgence. Yo, Mona, you ding-dong, "unfair" is when you're minding your own business and are blown to smithereens by a terrorist bomb planted by a coward.

Sharks? When the hell did lawyers get that far up the evolutionary ladder?

***One FBI source says his fingerprints were found on one of the bags full of explosives found at the crime scene.
Mayfield apparently handled mostly divorce cases and custody battles here in the Houston area. His wife Mona is speaking out in his defense. ***

A bag still full of explosives, found there AFTER the blast? (Like all this was intended to explode in synchrony?) Or do they mean a piece of a bag which held the explosives that caused the blast?
To: Cincinatus' Wife
***His father, Bill Mayfield, of Halstead, Kan., called the allegations asinine. What would've been Mr. Mayfield's comment if he'd been asked, when little Billy was 12, if his son would grow up to be an Islamic nutball?
To: PBRSTREETGANG
Should've been "little Brandon".

Some of the backpack bombs didn't detonate.
