The current king of Jordan is very different from his father. He was educated in the US and went to tank commander school witht he US Army. He also did not oppose allowing US troops to enter Iraq from Jordan. I have also heard that he is Christian and as such must be very careful.

If the people could vote, I doubt they'd take his side.
I don't know just what went on in eastern Jordan, but the King contends he denied permission to the US to use Jordanian air space or land to attack Iraq, as well as the rumor that Israeli troops were on the ground in Jordan.

I am surprised to read in your posting that King Abdullah is a Christian. His name itself means "slave of Allah" and he is the hashemite leader, traditionally in charge of the Moslem holy places.
His father was an intelligent man of great dignity who was greatly respected in the Western world.
