OK, let's discuss the relative relationship between GWB's culpability for a random murder committed by a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil ("on his watch", as the 9/11 terror-whore families would say) and the unauthorized abuse of enemy combatants by a handful of low-ranking military personnel on the other side of the planet. I see NONE in either case.

At least one Iraq veteran came home and murdered his wife. Has Bush told Abdullah he's sorry about that, too?

The President just apologised. As did Condi, Armitage, Kimmitt and Miller.

At least they're more cognizant of the damage this has done to the USA than you.

"Have you seen how upset some of the families (and lawyers) of the soldiers involved are by what they deem as excessive demonization of the soldiers? They are saying that W is out of touch with what soldiers go through in combat.

I think that is a troubling development! "

Heck, yeah, the parents are upset and they should be.... the actions of their foolish, irresponsible children reflect badly on their parenting skills or the lack thereof. They've been exposed and they are howling about it, and they're giving you a window into how they raised those selfish, indulged children by making excuses for their behavior. Someone is out of touch alright but it isn't President Bush.

saying "I am sorry your wife died" does not make one guilty of murder. Or the Classic Statement to a Wronged Wife,,"I am sorry you feel that way" is not an acknowledgement that the hubby did anything.

GWB did a brilliant thing. He made the statemnt to an ally, one who matters, not to thugs. If the left wing continues the diatribe, they look more and more bad and vindictive.

This is a good move paired with saying Rummy stays. GWB looks like a big man with loyalty and good sense. Besides I am sorry it happened, but I didn't do it nor did any of us.

I am guessing this to mean that he is sorry it happened not that he is sorry as a responsible person.

That's the way it sounded to me. I'm sure he's sorry these folks were humiliated the way they were. The soldiers who did it put a huge stain on our entire military because that's how folks tend to judge things. Just look at what's been said by the libs in this country!

I don't have a problem with Bush's 'apology'. It just gives him the chance to say, in his diplomatic way, now leave me the hell alone!

Meanwhile we are taking it to Sadr's militia.

A point that seems to be missed by the 'Bush is a coward because he used the word sorry' gang around here.

Bet some of them STILL don't tell their little sisters they're sorry without their MOMs' making them.... ;o)

So.. You don't like what I'm saying, stuff not directed at you at all, and you can call me whatever?

That's how it works right? Is that how FR is supposed to be?

Whew, only you, John Kerry, and democrats could get life threatening upset at supposedly being called "whatever".

I surmise wonders will never cease.

Howlin doesn't like to hear anything but "Bush is doing everything right." If you question the wisdom of this or that-- you're automatically a troll and an America hater. Beware!

Well in public I don't like to criticize the President either, even in private I tend to hold my criticism. Considering the task that he faces daily.

I refuse to give his enemies any aid or comfort by my criticism. Call me a team player I guess.

What comforts me is knowing that he answers to Someone greater than his critics. Concerning his apology, I wasn't crazy about it but he stood firm on keeping Rumsfeld. That works for me.

I've also noted this individual can libel and personally attack others routinely, yet only their posts get deleted, when they are clearly, repeatedly in violation of the forum rules. Dane and Howlin seem to get away with this *daily*. Interesting, isn't it?

what would really have been fun is if Abdullah's cell phone rang - I can hear him now, "what do you mean the shredder jammed while you were feeding that AQ terrorist through it! Fix it, call Staples, I'll FedEx you a new part. And no, I'm not picking you up a new digital camera."

You deal with people in real one dimensional ways.

Are you under the impression this place is NO one dimenstional? Are you in 3D and I don't know it.

I can only "know" you by the black font you put on the screen.

And yours certainly always IS black and filled with doom. It's like you're almost HOPING bad things happen.

One side will say he didn't "apologize strongly enough". The other side will say "He shouldn't have apologized for anything".

Which is why this President acts on his conscience and not on which way the political wind is blowing.

"Rush also said that the soliders were just blowing off steam and having some fun. "

Rush is wrong. That wasn't what happened, and Bush's apology makes sense to me. The buck stops at the Commander-in-Chief's office, right after it stops with Rumsfeld.

What the result will be for the election remains to be seen, but Bush really had no choice here.

Good ol' boy mentality going on behind the scenes.
