It is disturbing that many Catholics have adopted a philosophical preference for Islam over Judaism.

I'd be curious to know the source of this information.

I wonder how much influence the pope had/has on his people when a picture of him holding and then kissing the koran, is shown. It would make a Christian vomit to have a leader like this. Yes, there are people that claim to be Christian that would do and say something like this, but if they would paint them self green, live in a swamp, let their food rot under the bank and call them self a alligator, they would be as much of a alligator as those others that call themself a Christian would be.
I'm not saying this to hurt anyone. The truth stands for itself.

"---I'd be curious to know the source of this information." Neo-Marcion heresy is unfortunately quite the rage in much of the European and Middle Eastern christian (or should I say "christian"? ) theology circles.

They are calling for rejection of the Old Testament, replacing it with the Koran, and finding " a place to stand" for "christians" uner the supposedly protective banner of Islam. I don't know that it is especially Roman Catholic more than other denominations.

Hisorically, much, if not all, of christian anti-semitism has followed from the pernicious ideas of "Replacement Theology," that is, that God has abandoned the Jews and Israel because of disobedience. This self-righteous attitude is dangerous. If God has abandoned the Jews for their sins, how can we be sure He hasn't abandoned us for our sins? After all, WE CLAIM to understand the Messiah, to have MORE COMPLETE revelation, yet we act like dirtbags.

I don't know about "philisophical preserence for Islam," but a lot of Catholics apparently see Israel as an oppressor nation, against the 'poor' Palestinians.
