DUBAI, May 6 (Reuters) - Dubai-based Al Arabiya television aired on Thursday what it said was a videotape showing an American engineer working for the Pentagon held hostage in Iraq.

The network said it had received the tape from a group calling itself The Islamic Rage Squadrons which said it had kidnapped the man on May 3. He was shown blindfolded with a chequered Arab head scarf and wearing an olive green jacket.

Now if the arabs are smart, they will treat him like a sheik for western consumption. Oh, the noble mujahedin.

Prayers for him.

Actually it says that Al-Arabiya is Dubai based. I think it is arab owned. Also notice they didn't give a name or who he works for or show a face.

Could be propaganda also.

Yes, at least: Al-Hurra, Al-Jazeera, Al-Arabiya.
There may be others but I think those are the popular ones.

Okay from the NY Daily News "The President went on U.S.-funded Arab TV station al-Hurra and the Dubai-based al-Arabiya "

The Islamic Rage Squadrons

Is that not about the lamest name yet for a terrorist group? It sounds like something out of a comic book.

Sorry about that, reuters reported he was an engineer(probably civilian) working for the Pentagon, but still they didn't show the face or give a name.

Have to wait and see if the Pentagon confirms this.

I am wondering if we were in charge of this station at the beginning of the war or if this is fairly new? Anyone have any information on this? Are we countering the Arab media?
