(Disclaimer: I am not condemning or defending our troops. Personally I think this stuff is a hoax and or blown out of proportion)

When will the Iraqis apologize for this???

Why? We should expect they would not, we should expect this from them. And I do not think it is representative of all Iraqi's, just as the alleged violations by our troops is not representative of all Americans.

Personally, I would show the enemy no quarter.

The men and women in the military posting responses have said they are angry and outraged at the abusers and say there is no place for this in the military. They are being harmed by the acts of a few,but they are angry at the few and the conditions that allowed it.

God Bless Our Armed Forces

Certainly not a hoax. The army began an investigation into these abuses last January (i.e., very quickly after the abuses themselves occurred). Here's an excerpt from a New Yorker article describing the investigation:

"A month later, General Karpinski was formally admonished and quietly suspended, and a major investigation into the Army’s prison system, authorized by Lieutenant General Ricardo S. Sanchez, the senior commander in Iraq, was under way. A fifty-three-page report, obtained by The New Yorker, written by Major General Antonio M. Taguba and not meant for public release, was completed in late February. Its conclusions about the institutional failures of the Army prison system were devastating. Specifically, Taguba found that between October and December of 2003 there were numerous instances of “sadistic, blatant, and wanton criminal abuses” at Abu Ghraib."

This is the whole point. I don't hold ALL Iraqis responsible for this unspeakable action toward our soldiers .. therefore, they need to learn they cannot hold every soldier responsible for the unspeakable actions of a few.
