Statement by Former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin
George W. Bush ^ | May 5, 2004

WASHINGTON, DC— Former U.S. Treasurer Rosario Marin issued the following statement addressing John Kerry’s travel to California:

"John Kerry is out of touch with California's Latino community on the most important issues. Kerry called the President's No Child Left Behind legislation 'groundbreaking' when he voted for it, but now attacks it on the campaign trail. President Bush dramatically increased education funding to help close the achievement gap between Latino students and their peers. The President requested a 55 percent increase in Title I funding to benefit over 15 million students from low income homes and is leading the Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics to help lower the Hispanic dropout rate.

"The President's small business agenda is expanding opportunities for the nearly two million Latino small business owners in the United States. The President's pro-growth policies are providing crucial assistance to the three million small business taxpayers in California who have benefited from the President's tax cuts."

Come to think of it, without those tax cuts thousands more small businesses in California would have gone belly up, not just those owned by Latinos.
Let's see if Conan has any luck with that sword...

Let me see.

Do I care less about what Kerry thinks or what Marin thinks?

I'll toss a coin.

My question: Does anyone remember who Rosario Marin is?

Or better: Did anyone know who she was in the first place?

Pull out a recent $5 or $10 bill, and look on the front side, lower left. Chances are, you'll see who this woman is.

I know who she was.

I inadvertently met her a a GOP meeting, and she insisted on autographing a $1 bill for me.

I donated it to one of her opponents.
