The legendary Pat Buchanan has been saying this for years. This CIA fella is behind the times.

Now, let's compare and contrast this Q&A from Victor Davis Hanson's
website :
Q: When does civil war happen? Can it be caused by a failure of deterrence? Our country is becoming extremely polarized, could a civil war be in our future? Hanson: Anything is possible, but there are still more ties than fault linespopular culture, common allegiance to certain values of fair play and meritocracy, a general ease and familiarity in American culture. I was worried at the time of Clintons disgrace that some tried to destroy rather than discredit him, and now we see that same excess in the attacks against Bush that transcend politics and reveal a visceral hatred. But certainly, there are two divergent views of what this country should bewhether it is committed to liberty and an equality of opportunity or more to egalitarianism and a government-mandated equality of results.
The balance of ties vs. faultlines no longer applies, I think. That's why I believe that a very ugly civil war is unavoidable. I'll take it one step further and suggest that not only is it inevitable, but that it is also necessary. Consider, for a moment, the nature of the enemies - foreign and domestic - of civilization. They're not going away. They aren't amenable to reason, facts or logic. What they seek is not merely control over the economic details of your life, but they also seek dominion over your innermost thoughts and feelings. They don't just want your stuff - they want your soul as well. And they expect you to applaud them for it.
That's enough to tell you that this next war is one that we must absolutely fight to win. No negotiation, no compromise, no neutral ground.

Anyone read his book, it sounds interesting?

With Ft. Bragg, Kennedy space center, Camp Lejune, Kings Bay sub pens, Norfolk Naval base and a host of AF bases, the South should do much better this time around.

I agree with Mayer.
I have heard that at one time Bin laden was a mercenary employed by the US ( I have no sources for this but I have heard it many times) to drain the USSR of resources and lose the will to fight thus eclipsing into the end of the "cold war".
Some claim the Afghanistan/soviet conflict contributed greatly to the downfall of the USSR.
If this is true could Bin Laden now be a mercenary hired by unknowns to do the same to the USA ?
This is just one factor. Another is the "Cultural War" angle. Micheal Savage ( I love that nut case he thinks like me, all over the map) details basically the same premise he details in his book " The Enemy Within ".
Much of this is evident even in how for a week now the media is all over this prisoner abuse scandal, yet the torture of our men in Falluja got maybe two days , the story about the failed terror attempt in Turkey, 0 days, the mass graves in Iraq a blip.

The Newsmax headline (which is inflammatory, hyperbole, and something of a red herring - "like USSR" implies what, that we'll be outspent in an arms race?) does not fairly correspond to the content of the article outlining Meyer's views (he makes a lot of good and important points).
Read the article, not the headline.

Here is my argument against his three points.
1. Our population continues to increase.
2. They still teach civics in school, right?
3. Radical Islam will most likely destroy themselves and the host countries before they could even touch US.

Witness the line which can be drawn from early 20th century anarchists and communists, to the womens' "rights" movement (really just anohter anti authoritarian movement) straight through to today's barrenness. And that is but one dimension of the problem. Make no mistake, this series of attacks has been specifically engineered, by people who understood our society and its emerging weaknesses after the collapse of more traditional forms of Western society, very well. Sun Tzu would have been proud.

I think the guy is quite right, he sounds like my father did back in the 1970's when I remember him talking about these things back then. I think the difference between the USSR and USA is that the USSR was mainly economic, Communism just couldn't get the "golden goose" to lay more eggs and ended killing her in the process. Where we could fall is the ideological divide that is brewing, and has been brewing since the 1960's. I think that is the main point or one of them.

Good article.
The reason America will fall is because of Liberals. Period.
Liberals have exactly the wrong view of human nature and what America is all about. They are the termites in our culture and are encouraging the other nests of termites (Muslims and other unassimilated turd world illegal aliens, bringing their cultures with them, insisting we adopt to them) to come on in and start chewing at the foundations, which are are already shaky.
When we lose our history and our shared culture, we will lose our country. We are getting close to that point now where we won't have a nice stew but an oil and water mixture.

For some unknown reason some Americans want to prophesy doom for this nation instead of showing the resolve necessary beat back our detractors with a holy and righteous attack. Americans are winners in everything we do and make no apologies for our actions. Fight to win at all costs and never retreat into defeat and always be true unto thyself!
