Crew Contradicted Kerry Over Battle, Doctor Alleges

WASHINGTON — A former Navy doctor who says he treated Sen. John F. Kerry for the wound that led to his first Purple Heart in Vietnam said Tuesday that several of Kerry's crewmates told medical personnel at the time that the injury did not occur in battle.

I still can't get over the dimensions of the fragment that was in Kerry's arm.
Well, "in " isn't exactly accurate-it was probably sitting on top of his skin.
Superficial splinters are in deeper.
Kerry was probably frantic that a stiff breeze might blow it off his arm,before he got to the tent.
No wonder the doc remembered Senator GoldBrick.

1/2 inch x 1/8 inch, under the skin by 1/4 inch.

To fully appreciate how tiny this is, everyone should get a ruler and map it out on paper. You'll need a magnifying glass.

You really have to question Kerry's mental status.Then and now.
Kerry was disturbed a/o cowardly to demand a Purple Heart for a phantom injury.
But, to continue to promote the myth that he received a war time Purple Heart for an injury that was self inflicted and microscopic, shows that Kerry may be even more disturbed than previously thought.

Contrary to Kerry and the media, three Purple Hearts was not an automatic trip home.

If Kerry knew about the Bureau of Naval Personnel Instruction No. 1300.39 , he also had to know about the waiver that allowed uninjured naval officers to stay with their men.
Kerry qualified for the waiver-he was an officer and his " wounds " did not require hospitalization.

The only requirement Kerry did not meet, was the desire to stay with his men.

We occasionally heard rumors of clerks and staff officers receiving Purple Hearts for torn nails and stubbed toes - but nothing that could really be substantiated. I thought it was all just scuttlebutt - until Hanoi John made his bid for the Presidency.

It is apparent that Kerry shopped his first PH around per the report from Hibbard. NAVSUPPACT Saigon approved the first PH award for the 2 December 1968 scratch on 28 Feb 1969 or almost 3 months afterward. Compare that time difference to the approval of PH #2 of Feb 20 1969 (approved 5 Mar 1969) and PH# 3 of 13 March 1969 (approved 17 APR 69). All of the certificates were signed on August 12, 1969.
