WASHINGTON A former Navy doctor who says he treated Sen. John F. Kerry for the wound that led to his first Purple Heart in Vietnam said Tuesday that several of Kerry's crewmates told medical personnel at the time that the injury did not occur in battle.

"Then why was he awarded the PH?"
We still haven't figured it out but it seems that Kerry got one of his next C.O.'s to sign off on it? But we're still not real sure...

Cause he shot himself
(snip)
Later, Letson said, several of Kerry's crew members told a different version to medical personnel: "They did not receive any fire from shore," he wrote, "but said that Kerry had fired a mortar round at close range to some rocks on shore. The crewmen thought that the injury was caused by a fragment ricocheting from that mortar round when it struck the rocks."

Well with the liberal mind in full view, it does make sense that he would make this campaign about his "hero" status as an offensive move, and to question this is to question his patriotism.
Looks like he's been planning this offensive the past 30 + years "reenacting" that "jungle" offensive as legacy.

Kerry is preparing a public statement on this Doctor's allegation. It begins: "That George Bush, a known draft-dodger would actually accuse Senator Kerry, a war hero, of cowardice is just another example of right-wing smear tactics. This doctor is obviously a lying Republicans ..."

"If these people have different recollections 35 years later of what they saw or signed, they ought to take it up with the U.S. Navy," Kerry spokesman Michael Meehan said. Then why wasn't President Bush's honorable discharge from the service good enough? After all, the military signed off on that too, right? Oh, yes, and why was it a "story" that the dentist who treated President Bush in Alabama "couldn't remember" him 35 years later? I'm still shaking my head at that one.... Kerry's attitude of "don't question military decisions about my service record" makes me crazy, since I always said that President Bush's honorable discharge ought to have settled any issue re. his attendance and compliance with requirements. It seems to Kerry that the military's word is only good enough if it benefits him.

I had Jeffrey Dalmer listed also,

This article actually reveals who the attending doctor was and the fact that Kerry's fellow shipmates contradicted Kerry about there not being hostile fire.
