In a culture of "wild men" perhaps that's the only practical and workable type of leadership.

Iraqi government will be tumultuous for some years.
What' important is that they are moving in the right direction, albeit slowly.

Ever since the creation of the IGC I've thought we picked a bunch of wimps. The new Iraq needs a strong man who has the power to put down minor rebellions (like Sadr's) yet is not a psychopath. Right now there are too many militarily powerful people vying for control - a recipe for disaster. Force has to be used to funnel these groups into the political process. This is why our strategery in Fallujah and Najaf is a disaster. We allowed minor dictator wannabees to gain control through force.

Iraq will eventually be run by another dictator, we just have to make sure he's OUR dictator.
