I saw a bit of the conference. So, which one of these "honorable men" was it that was just shown on Fox News criticizing Kerry today, but speaking highly of him during a campaign in '96?

The Honorable Man (no quotation marks) who did that spoke of that very thing in the press conference.

He said that in 1996 John Kerry was being slandered with the same kind of accusations with which Kerry had slandered all Vietnam vets. He said he knew it to be untrue, so he stepped forwarded and said so. He said he was defending the truth then just as he's defending the truth now.

Franky, this fellow sounds like a publicity hound. And he will ride whatever horse necessary to garner publicity.

AP spiked the story. They are portraying it as a Bush campaign ploy. The Kerry campaign is giving out talking points...This is too powerful for the vultures of the jaded press to accept ,even those who are not Kerry shills

Even E.D. on Fox and Friends this morning, during the approximate one minute of coverage they gave to the press conference, said that they were all Bush supporters.

They are answering questions before they even get blitzed by the reporters.

By doing it that way, they expose those questions as Kerry talking points.

It's a poor publicity hound that doesn't even make an attempt between 1996 and 2004.

Well, I don't know this guy's bio. But the Kerry RATS can turn the flip-flop charge around on this guy, and say he is inconsistent.

If I were O'Neil, I would have avoided using him. JMHO...

Kerry is using the Clintonian tactics of the "War Room." Go on the offensive and frame the issue to your advantage. Anyone who saw the press conference or looks into the backgrounds of O'Neill et. al. knows that this is not a partisan effort. I find it incredible that the few enlisted Kerry supporters, some of whom served with him for less than a week, are being held in equal regard to hundreds of fellow officers and enlisted swift boat personnel. Moreover, the entire officer chain of command, which supervised Kerry in Vietnam has stated that he is unfit for CIC.

The leftist media would lead you to believe that Kerry commanded some major naval vessel and operated alone. In fact, the PCFs operated in groups of three and four. Each PCF had only an OIC and an elisted crew of five. Hopefully, O'neill and his colleagues will persevere. As John Paul Jones, "I have not yet begun to fight."

Excellent point! And has anyone mentioned the fact that Kerry was given a purple heart for simply taking shrapnel in the knee? And credited with killing 20 enemy fighters during his five months in Vietnam? All this sounds very fishy to me..

I disagree. Kerry called him to defend him (Kerry) against charges that he committed war crimes. He did and is being consistent now. Kerry, on the MTP and in his recently released bio, "Tour of Duty", repeats his assertion that they did commit war crimes. Kerry is the one being inconsistent. Let the Kerry camp attack him and then let him use the media platform to explain what happened.

Yes, you make a very good point. Just by attacking him, they will bring publicity to this guy. And then the media will HAVE to pay attention to Kerry's Vietnam problems.

Are you being sarcastic? First of all, this is not about Kerry's medals, although there are plenty of questions that need to be asked. It is about Kerry's actions of requesting a curtailment of his tour shortening his assignment to Vietnam by over 7 months and his traitorous activities after he returned. He characterized his military colleagues as rapists and murderers guilty of war crimes. He met, per his sworn testimony before Congress, with the Vietnamese Communists in Paris and then returned to advocate the enemy's positions before Congress. Kerry was a leading member of the radical VVAW, which exists today still spouting a leftist agenda. He worked with Jane Fonda and Ramsey Clark to paint this country as some sort of monster and outcast in the world community.

As a Vietnam veteran, I despised Kerry in 1970-1 and now. He unfairly smeared people who were serving their country and undermined our efforts in the middle of hostilities. Hundreds of thousands of boat people, tens of thousands of executions by the Communists, and millions more were placed in reeducation camps. This is Kerry's legacy.

Kabar,

I am not being sarcastic. All the sheep knows about Kerry is the medals. He cites the medals, the citations, etc. Well, lets just discredit them, questioning the circumstances, pointing out that he won them by being a US war criminal (not hard, cause he admits violating the Geneva convention).

By doing so, we drive a stake into the heart of his campaign & assure President Bush victory.

Geeze, silly --

Well, I had no available blank tape.

Seems like that always happens when I need it.

I ended up catching the re-run and recording over a movie that I was saving as well for posterity.:-)

I find your reasoning convoluted and obtuse. Attacking Kerry's medals is not a winning strategy. You would also be attacking all veterans who won medals.

However, Kerry needs to release all of his military and medical records to resolve various questions,e.g., why did Secretary Lehman sign his Bronze and Silver Star citations; what were the circumstances surrounding Kerry's first PH; and why did Kerry initate a curtailment request despite the fact that he suffered no major physical injuries, i.e., he bugged out leaving his shipmates behind.

It was Joe Klein in The New Yorker magazine. Here's a link to the story. It's in their archives for the 12/2/2002 issue:

Yup, these Vets are quite clever. "A bunch of drunks" is how Kerry tried to spin them. Kerry should not have underestimated these guys. They ripped him a new one.

Reading someone is not a logical process. I'm reading it the way Teplukin is (new membership date not withstanding). I reserve the right to be completely wrong...I hope I am.
