In regards to Bush/Rumsfeld's statements:

You know why they said those things: because they are fighting the wrong war. They are fighting public opinion. They should be fighting the enemy and KILLING THEM. Instead, they pussy-foot around Faluja and go all weak-kneed and scared at the thought that the enemy was treated as such. There is a war going on; both with the terrorists and the liberals. The liberals engage it on the PR front, and anyone who buys their BS is a casualty. Those soldiers doing their duty - to humiliate their would-be killers into submission - are also casualties of that PR war.

Agreed. I'm far from confident in the Fallujah "strategery".

But I must respectfully disagree that violating the Geneva convention is acceptable. Doing so would cost us our moral high ground. We would then have no right to expect our enemy to hold to a standard our side had already breached.

But mostly, I think what happened at Abu Ghraib makes it even more difficult for our troops out in the field. That's what I'm angry and worried about.
