Rachel opposed hate and racism and oppression wherever she found it, said Cindy Corrie during a tribute to her daughter last night. The young American activist was killed by a bulldozer in Gaza while trying to prevent the demolition of a Palestinian home. Cindy and her husband Craig Corries talk, titled A Tribute to Rachel Corrie, was part of Palestine Awareness Month, which is sponsored by the Coalition for Justice and the Muslim Student Awareness Network. According to Mrs. Corrie, Rachel, a 23-year-old from Olympia, Wash. was always seen as an activist to her hometown. As a 10-year-old she delivered a speech in which she described a mission for peace that stressed the importance of understanding.
Weve got to understand that people in third-world countries think and care and smile and cry just like us, Rachel said in a home video that her father shared with the audience.
Mrs. Corrie said that Rachel never believed that protesting was an extreme action.
For Rachel, it was all about the Palestinians suffering, Mrs. Corrie said.
She claimed that it was the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 that jump-started Rachels active participation in what she considered to be the quest to world peace. It was shortly after these attacks that she began to reflect on the U.S war on terrorism and the U.S governments role and impact on the world, Mrs. Corrie said. Soon Rachel joined several world peace groups, one of which led her to Israel and eventually her death.
Mrs. Corrie remained calm as she described first hearing about her daughters death.
I still remember the headline on the television, she said. Olympia woman killed in the Gaza Strip, which was later updated to Rachel Corrie killed in the Gaza Strip.
Mrs. Corrie said that after Rachels death, she and her husband wanted to travel to the Middle East to experience firsthand what the situation was really like. They visited the home of the family in which Rachel was staying with. Mrs. Corrie said that the family showed her where Rachel used to eat and sleep.
Their daughters death has prompted Craig and Cindy Corrie to try to continue her work. They have convinced their congressperson to propose to the House of Representatives an independent U.S investigation into Rachel Corries death, which Mrs. Carrie said that the U.S. government had been notably quiet about.
She added, Rachel stood there that day because the U.S and Israel rejected a proposal in the U.N. to send international human rights monitors to the region.

My question to their parents when they came is below, and I have the answer and some other stuff on this website
website "Mr. and Mrs. Corrie - it means a lot to me to have both of you come here tonight and speak of the need for direct social action over mere words. Too often in our generation, those that would seek to make this world a better place give themselves contentment with the pat on the back of mere words when they should be acting. With that in mind, you pointed out earlier that we should pay attention to the actions of both sides in this conflict. I wholeheartedly agree, and wanted to press you on how your late daughter or even the ISM has engaged in direct non-violent action, as opposed to mere words, to restrain the Palestinian side from its violence, since both clearly had the Israeli side covered."

Did you get an answer? Excellent question.
Funny that a girl who believed so much in "peace" would join up with a group who has never believed in peace, but instead in total domination of the world. A people who stick guns in car windows and shoot little girls.
Racheal chose death. That mother and 4 daughters killed by the Palestinian gunman, did not want to die.
Shame on Racheal and shame on her parents.

Ms. Corrie's parents are too busy celebrating the death of an Israeli pregnant mother and her four daughters to answer.
To: ElliotFladen
Their daughters death has prompted Craig and Cindy Corrie to try to continue her work. Including the part about standing in front of bulldozers?

Social Darwinism at its best. Corrie was stupid enough to sympathize with the barbaric and backward Palestinians. She was clearly too stupid to get out of the way of a bulldozer. The world is better off without her in the gene pool. One less idiot able to reproduce.
To: ElliotFladen
Have we ever nominated Rachel Corrie for a Darwin Award?

Cindy and her husband Craig Corries talk, titled A Tribute to Rachel Corrie, was part of Palestine Awareness Month, which is sponsored by the Coalition for Justice and the Muslim Student Awareness Network. It might be more useful for them to celebrate a "Bulldozer Awareness Month", where students learn to get out of the way of moving construction equipment.

"For Rachel, it was all about the Palestinians suffering, Mrs. Corrie said. "Right...What about the suffering and repeated attempts to kill and annihilate the Israelis? What about all the death and destruction the Palis caused as a first strike and as unprovoked attacks?
Make no mistake about it. The Corries are violent people.

I understand the parents sorrow but don't make this girl out to be heroine when she was being used by the pali terrorists, as well as working with the group that is closely aligned with a pali terrorist group. For them she was a means to an end.
