First going to DC and participating in my first Freep with some really cool Freepers! Then to hear about Thomas Hamill!
Here's my report of Saturday (Pictures to come after I get them developed)
Stayrue picked me up aroud 3:00pm (est) and took me to DC, We were trying to get there early but, you know DC traffic!, LOL!
we got to our corner, we were the only ones there as the others hadn't come yet. So StayTrue went to park the car whil I sat on the wall, with the signs he had made. If you go over to the After Action thread that was put up yesterday, you'll see pictures of some of the signs plus pictures of the Arnette Awards. (Angelwood made them)
I was a bit nervous as I sat there and watched the people go by, the signs got a lot of stares and I hoped no-one would say anything,at leaset before the others came! LOL, (All right, I'm a bit shy)
One couple asked why we didn't list FOX NEWS along with the others, but I think they must have mis interpreted the signs. One youg woman stopped by and, guess what? She turned out to be one of DC's few Conservatives, I knew how she feels about that!
Staytrue gave her a picture of the Freeper (I forgot his name) who goes around in a Saddam Hussie costume carrying a sign saying "Save me! Vote Democrat!"
It was funny! and she signed up to get a newsletter via e-mail from the DC Chapter of Freerepublic.
We were only out there a short time when the rain started and we had to move under the cover of a building over hang.
the guys all whent back out whe it was still raining and contunued to hold up thier signs.
Al Franken came over and was debating (I call it argueing) with Angelwood and Sauropod.
A visitor from England came over and talked a long time to TGSLTAKOMA. He was in the Royal Airforce.
He hung around and helped us out a bit, even taking our group picture.
Lots of celebs and newspeople that everyone knew (except me) but a lot date back to long before I ever heard of FreeRepublic, (Also I didn't have a PC during Clinton's years. When Drew Barrymore came by, filming her documentry, she stopped and interviewed Angelwood and some of the others (please fill in or correct whatever needs correcting,Angelwood and TgslTakoma and the others). Everyone did the Clinton Cop Chant for ms Barrymore and her crew.
Matt Drudge cautioned them that the film will probably be used against them and FreeRepublic.
It was graet meeting Matt Drudge!
I got a good picture of him. When I asked him if I could take his picture, he smiled and cracked wht was gonna do with it. He even took pictures of the Arnett Awards.
