if one does install updated from OEM's does it mess up the next microsoft update. My system automatically makes me check with M/S occasionally; I never come up with anything critical and have no known problems, but I'd want to know if my using these updates would preclude my ever using ones from M/S again.

That's a good question!

Unfortunately, I don't have a good answer.

My suspicion is that the download of this 3rd party packet would have a negative influence on any future update one would want to persue via the OEM.
