Anyone know how many troops are in an Iraq Brigade and in an American Brigade? My recollection is about 1000 in a Battalion and 3000 in a Regiment - but what is in a Brigade?

Thanks for posting this -- a few minutes ago I was trying to post this, to get comments from other freepers. But my attempt didn't work.
Ovearll, he seems to assume that the U. S. military knows what they are doing, and they have a clever strategy both in Fallujah and in Najaf. I hope he's right. From a distance, it's hard for me to perceive what the military strategy might be -- things look awfully ad hoc, especially in Fallujah.

"We won," said one of the militiamen, a former soldier who gave his name only as Abu Abdullah. "We didnt want the Americans to enter the city and we succeeded." Hahahaha. These backwards, barbarian muslims are great comedians. Instead of us sending in our own forces to clean out the weapons and scumbags, we manage to send in their own people to do if for us. And they think they 'won'? hahahaha

Oh, BTW, he's right. This is going to move the Shiia off the dime so fast it'll make your head spin.

Good insights from Belmont Club. It's interesting that Chalabi et al. are so publicly against the "Fallujah Protection Brigade being put together under a former Republican Guard general. Makes me think that our leadership was more irritated than they let on that the new Iraqi army units performed so miserably in the beginning stages of the Fallujah/Najaf actions.
Strikes me that the formation of this independent force in Fallujah is our way of saying to the governing council, "Get your act together or we're bringing these guys back in." Should put the fear of Allah into some of the weaker sisters over there. Seems like a good move to me. We'll have to see where it goes.
