Still vetting Iraqi generals and others who want to help -- 600 veterans have shown up and been given uniforms and vehicles to go in to the city. Just a trial, hope it works and will be a model for other cities. Want to avoid full scale attack by US (that does neither side any good).

He did hype the show and I'm disappointed, but I do think his motives are more pure than we are giving him credit for.

I agree. I was kind of relieved to hear that it will be next week because by the time they brought the subject up, the show was almost over. I was hoping for a lot more than a few minutes devoted to the topic. This way they can do it right. :o)

I believe that there is a regulation that once your chest is full, you have to retire. :)

When I was discharged in 1953, my DD-214 showed that I qualified for 4 "decorations". I did a recent check and now I am qualified for an additional 5.

I don't feel any more manipulated than normal from these guys. I think it was short notice to do a decent program to honor all the WOT casulties to counteract Koppels Cronkite immitation. This will get hype,and the other networks will have to come out with something to try to top FNS. We know the nature of the cruddy media,so FNS will use them to honor our men and women,it could be very beneficial in the long run.

The thing that bothers me...left unsaid so far: The commanding officer of the offending prison is a female General. That might be what's holding up charging higher ups, nobody wants to accuse a female officer of being a pervert.

And Joe Biden is an idiot to sneak in the zinger that "even if someone at the Pentagon is responsible for the obscenities! The Pentagon???? Joe Biden's wetdream!

You have a point. And Fox has been very good about giving the regular miliary guys coverage, something which the other networks haven't done.

I don't even know what the Hell a metrosexual is. So unless they lived in the swamps on the edge of the Barrens it doesn't sound like the type of people I would hang around with.
I'm from a time and place where the men had the sticks and the women had the stick intos.

I don't believe the general. She says that she didn't go to that area at the request of military intelligence. That sounds lame to me.

And she also said they didn't allow the Red Cross in that area. If that is so, wouldn't the Red Cross have complained and made a big deal out of it?

exactly what Wilson had to admit yesterday. He doesn't know...but that doesn't preclude him from throwing out incindiary bombs accusing people in the administration.

Re Koppel's show - If anyone watched parts of it, they saw quite a few names that did not have photos. The flag-draped coffins were shown instead, much like a school yearbook does for a kid who does not submit his photo.

I know that Koppel originally planned to list only those killed by enemy action, proving to me his anti-war motive. The names of the others who died in Iraq were hastily added before Friday night as a result of the scepticism raised about his motives.

I would love to know if the missing photos were of those troops. Not to single them out and identiy them, but to demonstrate proof of his original plans for the "show."

Yep! The President used the amount of books coming out about his administration in his jokes last night. Press asks a question of the President, he responds to Woodward who puts it in a book! Got some good laughs!
