Watching the NBC coverage now - they were showing pics of the celebrities - did I just see the 5 Queer Eyes there?

Probably. Hey, if OJ is there, anyone can get in. I think next year we should get Jim Robinson in the celebrity area!

I think Imperialism has a good chance too. I have him bet, along with just about every other horse in the race. LOL

I've seen enough of the horses' butts. Let's race.

Well, I guess I have to support a horse named Imperialism today. Just to tick off the lefties.

Maybe I should have a pin made up that says "Imperialism". LOL

If ever I have a Thoroughbred race horse, I think I'll name it "Right Wing Conspiracy"!

Off to watch on the big tv; only have a small one in the study.

Hope a freeper wins some $$.

Enjoy the race!

It was Foolish Pleasure she ran against. We lived near Belmont track and my father went to see the race. He said it was the most horrible thing he ever saw, she was right in his line of sight when she broke her leg.

He came home very upset. He used to go to Belmont all the time, and he never went again after that.

"You seem to know something about horses/racing, so let me ask you a question. Earlier, while watching the coverage, I saw the rider of an escort horse using only a strap around the chest of the horse to control the horse. No halter, no bit, no tack whatsoever on the head of the horse. I've never seen that before. I wonder how you control a horse that way and what is it called?"

Hmmm... Cuing is guiding with the legs, but I've never seen it done without a bridle as well.

As for my knowing a lot, lol... I grew up with horses, because my family was into breeding them... uncle was a jockey at santa anita. But I didn't study it as seriously as my dad wanted me too (I got hurt so many times when I was little, I became too fearful), and I haven't been in that world for a few years, so I'm sure others here know a lot more than I.

Do y'all know?

Yep that's the right name - after I posted, I thought a bit and wondered didn't that horse have pleasure in his name?

How about "Freeper"? The Demos would go nuts. Or "Rush is Right"!

Couldn't we freepers poll our money together and get a race horse? Like a syndicate?

If your Trifecta comes in , you could buy a Thoroughbred.

I saw it too.... pretty unusual for a horse to be ridden at liberty in that kind of setting! The horse did just have a neck rope, which was actually sortof a backup control, when I saw them, he had dropped it on the neck and was riding hands free.

For the pony rider, I am sure it is nice to have such a horse, who responds primarily to cues of voice and leg, and leaves the pony rider's hands more free to handle the racehorse.

20% of the cappers on NBC have gone for Smarty Jones.

Probably because he won the ARKANSAS Derby. LOL!
