Winning Strategies for Bush in 2004: Tow the Hard Line
01 May 2004 | MegaSilver

Here are a couple of things Bush can do to nail down victory for 2004:

1. TOW THE HARD LINE ON CRIME. Bill Clinton had a dismal record on, well, just about everything in Arkansas, especially criminal law enforcement. Bush's father failed to drop the crime bomb on Clinton; if he had, it may well have rocketed him to victory. Like Clinton, John Kerry is weak in this area, and it can be used to Bush's advantage. Stress the need to lock up violent criminals and keep them there. Stress the heinousness of murder, the severe danger posed by traitors, and the appropriateness of capital punishment for those crimes.

2. TOW THE HARD LINE ON GUNS. Have Bush pledge to uphold the Second Amendment. Point to Britain, where gun seizure has led to prosecution of people defending themselves and increased crime.

3. TOW THE HARD LINE ON IMMIGRATION. Drop the amnesty proposal. If Bush tries to take a moderate stance on immigration to impress minority voters, the Democrats will not be afraid to trump him every time--because they're catering to future Democratic voters. They WANT as much illegal immigration as possible. Pledge to give the DHS's immigration control division a more prominent, more effective role. Pledge to seal off our Southern border. Pledge to deport all known illegal aliens and to crack down on businesses that are hiring aliens in place of unemployed American citizens and driving wages down. Stress that doing this will result in the aliens deporting themselves. What's more, try to accomplish at least some of this before the summer ends to show the American people you're serious.

If Bush does this, I can all but guarantee that he will win in 2004.

Great plan, a guaranteed winner!

Unfortunately, I really don't think our president is ready willing or able to follow your lead.

Why don't you run?

I'll vote for you.

Heh; thanks, but I'm about 16 years too young. Otherwise, I'd run in a second. :)

Please - If I see anyone else saying "tow the line," I'm gonna scream!

The term is "toe the line" - it means to follow the rules or procedures as set forth and/or to do what is expected of you. "The line" is a limitation, if you tow it, you can drag it anywhere!

Oops.

Somehow, I had a feeling it wasn't right.

Good ideas, but that's "toe", not "tow".
