*born and raised in Louisville PING* Get asked a lot "Have you even been to the Derby?". No I haven't, cause the last time I checked it was $40 just to get in the INFIELD...

...which will be a mess as always. It's tradition for the local paper to print out a map of the infield the day before, showing where the crazy college kids usually hang out. If it rains, I can almost bet there'll be a Slip and Slide made out of tarp there...

*LOL at the track conditions* EWWW...

Course I'll be watching this year. Not sure who I'm rooting for yet...

Hello from another local. I went to the Derby exactly once. I wouldn't have done that if I wasn't a guest in box seating. It has been quite a few years ago.

I don't know how it works out this way but it seems like every Derby Weekend is my weekend to work. I brought strawberry shortcake to work with me.

My coworkers and I will see it on the tube but we will be Julepless.

Today we will miss out on the sun poisoning calls but starting around 7PM we will start getting calls about alcohol poisoning.

It's hard to assess : is it simple drunk and vomiting or is it drunk and passed out, or drunk heading toward a coma over the phone especially when whomever is making the call has had a few as well.

There is also the cruise down Broadway this evening. Many bad drugs will be consumed, snorted, smoked and injected there. Some of them will call me.

Makes for an intresting day.

I lived in Louisville for almost 40 yrs and, like you, have never been to a Derby. IMHO, a Derby party can be a whole lot more fun than you'd have in the infield (the only place us commoners can afford to go :)

I gotta go w/ Limehouse since he's from my "new" hometown, Aiken SC^, which, with three race tracks and a ton of horse farms is, ironically, much "horseier" than Louisville.
