If the republican does it, you not only get the same results, but worse, you have destroyed the concept of what republicans are supposed to stand for.
Worse still, you have destroyed the fundamental concept (necessary to human survival, in fact) that reason and logic are efficatious in dealing with the world around us.
Putting it another way, we know that the democrats want to turn America into a socialist country, and you vote for them, you always get more socialism. Logic and reason are intact. The idea that the other party is somehow "different" is still intact.
But when you vote for a republican like George Bush (either one) who claims to want smaller government and more freedom, but gives us massive increases in government and draconian restraints on freedom, then two things have been destroyed: 1. The idea that the republicans are any different than the democrats, and 2. The idea that logic and reason are good tools to help you make the choices you need to survive.
If I may add, that a problem created by the R.I.N.O. Party having gone so far to the left and placing itself in servitude and in a compromising position with the left, in its greed for which it negotiates away property and rights that are not its to offer ... is that it fails to understand it must struggle harder and harder, with each step that it takes away from, and away with, our liberties, as it loses its grip on its lifeline to liberty.
The R.I.N.O. Party fails to grasp the "straight line" of George Washington.
