PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Amid warnings that another devastating terrorist attack on the United States could be imminent, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry on Thursday accused President Bush of leaving the nation's chemical plants vulnerable because of his political ties to the industry
``I wish their policies were in touch with the tough rhetoric that you keep hearing,'' Kerry told the National Conference of Black Mayors. ``What are we waiting for? Instead of misleading us about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, they ought to lead this nation to take every step to prevent one of our own chemical plants from being turned into a weapon of mass destruction against our own people.''

How about Kerry ignoring the FAA's pleas with him in the late 90's to do something about airplane security via legislation?
Pleas that Kerry ignored. Had he acted on those pleas, we would have had reinforced door in airplanes and 9/11 wouldn't have been quite as bad as it was.

This is the second time Kerry has brought this up. He must know something. He's setting the groundwork for an "I told you so." The chemical plants are reviewing security and trying to determine the best way to protect against attack. But if an attack occurs, it won't matter how much preparation was underway. Kerry will just have to say, "See, I told you so."
This is a pretty smart ploy by Kerry (since he hates America and doesn't care how many Americans die to get him elected). He invites terrorists to attack chemical plants so that he can score political points. No matter that operators in the plant and residents nearby will pay a steep price. What's important is getting elected.

Why would he do that, he knew about an assasination plot but chose to keep silent on that one.

John Kerry on Thursday accused President Bush of leaving the nation's chemical plants vulnerable because of his political ties to the industry
[AP reporter Nedra Pickler tries to make Kerry's speech sound sensible. But even the above sentence is senseless. Hey, Nedra, what does that mean? "leaving the nation's chemical plants vunerable because of his political ties to the industry." Nedra, that sounds like something Kerry would say, but, Nedra, it makes no sense whatsoever. Nedra, maybe you should consider a refresher course in Journalism in summer school.]
Kerry would require the Department of Homeland Security to review and certify vulnerability studies for chemical plants deemed high-priority targets.
A study just like Gore did for the airline vunerabilities?
[Like we need another taxpayer funded study.]

All the RATS are doing is laying the ground work if there is an another attack on US soil before the Nov. election.
And if there is an attack --- they'll scream: I told you so--- GW is spending all his efforts in Iraq and ignoring us here at home.......yata yata.

Since Kerry has declared several times that the terror threat is being exaggerated by President Bush, I fail to see how anyone can take seriously anything he says.

The plan mirrors legislation Kerry, a Massachusetts senator, sponsored in early 2003 with Sen. Jon Corzine, D-N.J., and other Democrats. It stalled in the Senate over opposition from Republicans, who said it sought to inappropriately micromanage the nation's $450 billion chemical industry.Typical Kerry. Anti-capitalism. "First I must destroy the economy, then I will save it." -- He could have as easily have said this.

"Kerry Says Bush Ignoring Imminent Threats"Kerry?
KERRY?
Isn't this the same moron who said that President Bush has "EXAGGERATED" the terrorist threat??
Somebody find us that thread, please...
To: Mr. K
Do the nation's chemical industry not have a stake in keeping its plants secure? Is this multi-billion dollar industry unfamiliar with the concept of private security? Have they failed to have their own security measures in place?
The answer is No, No, and No. How would Monsieur Kerry-Heinz propose that the US government "take every step to prevent one of our own chemical plants from being turned into a weapon of mass destruction against our own people?"
Is he really so sure that measures are not in place and under development?
This from a botoxed jackass who helped to gut our military and our intelligence community......

I am amazed. To stop an attack the US would have to shut down major freeways/highways in almost all major cities, is that what Kerry wants?

You are right. Kerry is concentrating on defending America from within. Just like Spain, Honduras and whoever else pulled out of Iraq. That's his new message and he's testing the water now. His handlers have found something new to try on for size. We'll see what kind of momentum it brings.

"Kerry said he will require chemical plants at risk of terrorist attack to implement adequate physical security, including fences, guards and surveillance. " Already done at the chemical plants in the Houston area. But how do you defend against RPGs or Stinger missiles or gasoline tanker trucks crashing through the fences at 60 mph?

If JFing Kerry knows something shouldn't he share it with the CIA, FBI and the President and this administration....Maybe he is sharing his info with world leaders? all except the USA....how about his quitting lying and changing his story from day to day. All this would be a hoot if it weren't so serious. I think I can't stand another Clinton in the WH !!!
