This is a week early but just posting to get our minds ready for a collective prayer for our country.
Let's be praying for those lost in the line of fire for our country and their families, as well as the leaders of this country. Most importantly lets pray for the lost, they need prayer the most.

Dear Fellow FReepers,
The Liberal Left is quite fond of misinterpreting Thomas Jefferson, taking out of context a portion of a letter he wrote to the Danbury Baptist Church on January 1, 1802, the phrase "separation of church and state", and even more incorrectly assigning this phrase of five words to our Constitution. Mr. Jefferson attempted to quell the fears and concerns of a group of Connecticut Christians who had heard rumors, false though they may be, of the establishment of a national religion; ironically, and typically overlooked, Mr. Jefferson concluded his response to his fellow citizens by writing, "I reciprocate your kind prayers for the protection and blessing of the common father and creator of man...."
The fact is our Founders were certainly men of faith, deep faith, and our nation was born and remains strongly alive under God. The fact is our nation, our people, each of us is in need of prayer, is in need of His help and Divine guidance. We must not overlook we also have much for which to be thankful, paramount our freedom and His enduring love. We may pray to praise and worship God for the gifts he has granted each and every one of us and to reflect on His blessings given us, to ask for His help and guidance, to yield to His desire for us to reach our greatest possible potential, individually and as a people.
This year we also have many men and women who are in harm's way, especially those in Iraq and Afghanistan and the Middle East, sacrificing time from their loved ones and careers and lives so that we may be secure and free in our communities and homes across the United States, and indeed the globe. We may pray for their safety, that although they may find themselves now in dark ways fraught with danger, that they find themselves soon again safe in the loving arms of their families and friends, our world grown more secure, their missions accomplished.
This Thursday, May 6, Americans of all faiths and backgrounds will have the opportunity to again pause to reflect on the Annual National Day of Prayer. President Ronald Reagan established in 1988 that the First Thursday in May would be a National Day of Prayer, and President George W. Bush has again signed a proclamation to note this important day.
I ask that you please join with me and my family, and would like to strongly encourage you to remember to set aside some time this Thursday to pray for our nation, our leaders, those who defend us, and to give praise to our Heavenly Father.
May God Bless America, now and always,
Chummy
