Bush-Cheney '04 Continues Winning the War on Terror Tour

AKRON, OHIO – Earlier today, Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign Chairman Gov. Marc Racicot continued the Winning the War on Terror Tour at a press conference in Akron. Racicot and Gen. Carol Mutter (Ret. U.S. Marine Corps) joined Bush-Cheney '04 supporters, family members of servicemen and veterans in Akron to highlight the effectiveness of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

Goodyear Tire Co. employs 600 workers in St. Mary's, Ohio and has had contracts to build Bradley tire tracks at its St. Marys plant for more than a decade. Sen. John Kerry proposed reductions in Bradley Fighting Vehicles in 1984 and voted against funding for Bradleys at least five times.

Today's Akron event is the second Ohio event in the Winning the War on Terror Tour this week. The first was in Evendale, Ohio with U.S. Rep. Rob Portman on Monday. Michigan, New Hampshire and Maine have also hosted Winning the War on Terror press conferences this week, all highlighting John Kerry's troubling record on national security and his inconsistent support for our troops. Later today, Arkansas will also host a Winning the War on Terror press conference in Maumelle, focused on the importance of the Patriot Missile Defense System. The Winning the War on Terror Tour will continue throughout the next two weeks.

On Monday, April 26, 2004, the Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign released a new ad, "Weapons," airing in various markets and on national cable stations. Additionally, a state specific "Weapons" ad is airing in nine states, including Ohio.

John Kerry's Troubling Record on National Security

Vice President Cheney has addressed John Kerry's troubling record, saying, "I leave it for Senator Kerry to explain, or explain away his votes and his statements about the War on Terror, our cause in Iraq, the allies who serve with us and the needs of our military. Whatever the explanation, whatever nuances he might fault us for neglecting, it is not an impressive record for someone who aspires to become commander-in-chief in this time of testing for our country."

Many of the weapons systems that Kerry voted against are being used by our forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Winning the War on Terror Tour gives Bush-Cheney supporters, including elected officials, veterans, and others, an opportunity to highlight the important role that these weapons play in fighting and winning the War on Terror.

Why use the word "troubling"? Why not use words like outrageous, incredulous or unqualified?
