Seattle sign cheers U.S. enemies

Window front on major street: "Victory to the Iraqi Resistance''

As U.S. troops engage radical Islamic insurgents in Iraq, passersby on a major thoroughfare near downtown Seattle this week will notice a sign in a window front that urges: "Victory to the Iraqi Resistance."

The sign appears on the New Freeway Hall Community Center on multi-ethnic Rainier Avenue, home of the local branch of the Freedom Socialist Party.

Luma Nichol, Seattle organizer of the party, told WorldNetDaily her group put up the sign because there has been a "distortion of the truth" about the Iraq war, and "we want to educate our neighbors."

She said the reaction to the sign, noted by a contributor to FreeRepublic.com, has been much more positive than negative.

"There is a lot of opposition to the war," she told WND. "A lot of people understand that what the U.S. government is doing is a hostile invasion that violates the sovereignty of the Iraqi people."

However, Tuesday, she said, a "not very eloquent person" telephoned and "called us all a bunch of fags, which is not very conducive to debate."

But some opponents would call wishing victory for an enemy of the United States an act of sedition, she acknowledged when asked.

"I'm sure there are some people that would see it that way, but the U.S. is the aggressor in this situation and in the wrong," she said.

"A people whose country is being invaded and colonized by a hostile force have a right to defend themselves – that is what people did in World War II, and I stand on the side of the victims not the aggressors," Nichol declared.

She said she agrees with people who call the ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein a "dictator and vicious man."

"But I don't believe that the U.S. government wants to bring liberty and democracy to Iraq," she said. "They have their own agenda – oil, making money for Halliburton and other firms. There is no evidence that the U.S. has the interest of the Iraqi people at heart."

It's up to the Iraqi people to deal with their own dictator, she asserted.

"How would you feel if somebody said Dick Cheney is a threat to democracy and invaded our country?"

Nichol explained her group is a "socialist, feminist political party" that has been active in the U.S. for more than 30 years. As part of the Trotskyist wing of communism, it is distinguished from the Communist Party U.S.A. she said, "calling for socialist democracy in opposition to Stalinism."

There isn't a country in the world that practices her party's model for government, she said, but Cuba comes the closest.

We are occupying Iraq for the oil(?)

I just looked up Halliburton stock for the past 5 years. Geez, Bush and Cheney are so incompetant they can't even steal oil at a higher profit than they had before 9/11. /sarcasm(as if you needed it)

I think what she's trying to say here is that if you ever see her being mugged in a back alley, you should just walk on by and let her deal with it...

What a bunch of idiots.

I firmly believe that this country is headed towards armed confrontation over this lunacy. Then these parasites will realize that while the good men and women of this country were serving it, we also learned how to defend it and ourselves, while they were mostly just sitting around smoking pot and whining while "studying" the "Effects of Contemporary Post-Modern Neofascist Exploitation of the Lesbian Ectasy Market (AKA Political Science 101)". I've never seen hippy who could shoot worth a darn.

I once poured a cup of hot coffee into a collection jar for the "Nicaraguan Peasant's Anti-Contra Movement" or some such drivel, in a Taos, NM coffee shop. They all saw me do it, and not one of the dreadlocked, patchoulli reeking "Sandalista" freaks in the room even had the balls to look at me, let alone stand up for themselves. They are a complete waste of flesh, and use up oxygen that normal people need.

In case you haven't noticed I do get a bit emotional when confronted with this stuff.

A winder just itchin' for a big rock!!

That's what I was thinking. I'm old and fat but I've got enough "gorilla juice" left to throw a rock through that damn window and yank those signs down. So long as no one is hurt, THAT would be a justified form of protest.

I wonder if Canada would trade us Alberta for our Communist-Socialist North-West? The tree-hugging punks who inhabit that tiny corner are a global embarrassment to all REAL Americans.

You know, I hate to say this but it is time that people like this get driven out of their communities by whatever means necessary. The current judicial system allows these communists/stalinists/trotskyists and whatever other "ists" they may pledge allegience to, to coexist and spew their anti-American propaganda.

I believe in the U.S. Constitution but I now have serious doubts about this very document that allows these vermin to co-exist and attempt to multiply......

The Constitution is a very sacred document to me but it appears to be the blanket behind which all those who oppose it seem to hide behind........

My dad, may he rest in peace, was a law enforcement officer all his life and was the most knowledgable person on communism that I had ever met.

For the past 35 or 40 years or so he constantly quoted Kruschev (sp?) "Your freedoms will ultimately be your downfall" or something to that effect.

From what we are witnessing today, Kruschev (sp?) isn't too far off the mark......

I came within a heartbeat of putting my fist in his smug face

You have more restraint than I but then I am over 30 years your senior and have had plenty of time to harbor lots and lots of hostility towards these people. I also wasn't an Eagle Scout..............
