I am SO ANGRY at Rush Limbaugh right now!! In his last segment he really bashed and basically made fun of people who have Autism or Asperger's Syndrome. He apparently has not done " his homework" on this one.He read from a article, but I didn't hear who had written it. My granddaughter and husband both suffer from Aspergers. It has been a very difficult journey for our daughter and son in law. Rush will get LOTS of angry emails concerning this!!!

Rush spouting his opinion at the risk of seeming rude or insensitive is new?
I bet he pisses some person or group off at least weakly

It's very easy to poke fun at kids with these disabilities...Hanity does it. Rush does it. Most FReepers do it. I have never heard them make fun of the kids, only at the ridiculous quasi-medical mumbo jumbo that causes these normal bored kids to get drugged out of their minds so they can be good little automatons. Many ADD kids, can sit and play a video game for hours, or any other thing they are interested in.
They make fun of the system, and criticize the parents who fall for the lies and allow their children to be zombies for the comfort of the teachers.

In 95+% of cases it doesn't exist, and when it does, it could a)be avoided and b)be handled through nutrition, parenting, etc.
Harsh, but true...the society is so drugged up it's any wonder it functions. The pipples' priorities in this nation are way out of whack and the children suffer because of it.

Maybe I missed something - but I did not hear Rush being rude.
He had a late caller who has Aspergers that did not get on the air. Rush asked his screener to get the phone # and permission from the caller to be on the show tomorrow.

Sometimes even strongly. Seriously, Rush should stick to politics. I have friends with a child with this condition. It's real, and it's no fun at all.
I've stopped listening to Rush. I can't imagine a group he hasn't ridiculed at some point.

I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia (sp?) when I was young. It was corrected through diet and exercise.
I have no doubt that if I was a child today, it would have been diagnosed as ADD and I would be on drugs.

They are filling up scarce classes that teach skills like how close to stand next to someone at a party, or how to tell when people are angry even when they are smiling. Others, like Mr. Miller, have decided to disclose their diagnosis, hoping to deflect the often-hostile responses their odd manners and miscues provoke. In some cases, it has helped. In others, it seemed only to elicit one more rejection. Sounds to me like just another new payday for the psychology / drug industry by scaring / pandering to yet another group.

Geez, I've got most of these symptoms! Except "overly sensitive to loud sounds" - playing in a band 20+ years cured me of that! And all this time I just thought I was a geek.

They say genetic, the one thing all the books say, is that it is common to find a relative who, while not having it, has what they call a ghosting of the same symptoms....

With more and more parents realizing that the vast majority of ADD/ADHD diagnosis are a fraud, and the sales of ritalin and similar drugs declining, drug companies are now promoting "Adult ADD/ADHD" to tap another market.

The fact that you have to say true ADHD says a lot. There are a lot of false diagnoses out there -- made in the interest of money or convenience -- and everybody knows it.
To: pollywog
He makes fun of restless leg syndrome too, which I have, and which is a genuine sleep disorder, when it's severe, which for me, it is. If my current meds didn't work as well as they do, I'd be just about crazy for some undisturbed sleep.
So what! That's Rush.
