Err...why was this post addressed to me? I never even saw the original post.

I am SO ANGRY at Rush Limbaugh right now!! In his last segment he really bashed and basically made fun of people who have Autism or Asperger's Syndrome. He apparently has not done " his homework" on this one.He read from a article, but I didn't hear who had written it. My granddaughter and husband both suffer from Aspergers. It has been a very difficult journey for our daughter and son in law. Rush will get LOTS of angry emails concerning this!!!
Anger happens when things don't meet one's expectations. Apparently, you have an expectation either that Rush will be completely correct about everything he says or that he will agree with your take on things (which, in the minds of many, is the same thing as being right--"You agree with me; therefore, you are right." ). Neither of these is possible in any world the human population of which is greater than one. Once you realize this, you will be able to be a lot less angry.
As far as Asperger's syndrome is concerned, I'm pretty sure I've worked for people with it.

Thank you for your long and thoughtful response.
It is apparent that I jumped the gun on labeling this as some sort of bs left-wing 'disease of the day'.
I am sorry if I offended anyone.
That said, most of the 'symptoms' described on the AS website could apply to virtually any computer programmer or many of the people I have met at Star Trek conventions. Not being sarcastic, but quite serious on that. It seems that the websites which describe AS need to do a better job making it clear that this isn't just a "Geek Disease".

I do not have to sink as low as he does...Terry Minors(WHAS-AM840)...he's a very, very, very, cheap, pale version of Garry Burbank (WLW-AM700)...Burbank, has always been Politically Incorrect...and very funny (HA! HA!) guy.
..Minors is, well, fill-in-blank [------------] ! :|

Is this the same Terry Meiners that has his lips permanently, surgically affixed to Rick Pitino's posterior? One and the same. I guess he was ticked as I might have misspelled his name.

looks at the world through the eyes of a horseCould you expound a bit on that, or give a couple of examples?
You might be interested in this article, by a high-functioning autistic woman who is a professor of animal science:
I credit my visualization abilities with helping me understand the animals I work with. Early in my career I used a camera to help give me the animals' perspective as they walked through a chute for their veterinary treatment. I would kneel down and take pictures through the chute from the cow's eye level.
Does your grandchild also think visually? There is some evidence that paleolithic people may have been somewhat autistic (as we say today). For example, the representational (animal) cave paintings seem to be drawn componenet by component, as many autistic children draw today, rather than by drawing an outline first. It may be that the "autistic" mindset had advantages for hunting, and tracking in particular.

I know Terry Meiners. Have known friends of his for years and even played softball with his brother. Terry is an idiot. Not funny, either.

heh heh. ya Rush doesn't know much about science. I think he should stick to politics. He also disparages ADHD people, which I am one of. You just gotta laugh it off though. It is a shame tho.

The medication has saved my family, and I refuse to accept the judgement of ignorant people who have never lived through this.I'm on your side. It is strange to me how strongly some feel about this hostility to psychiatric medicine, so strong that they felt they had to bring it up in a thread about Aspberger's Syndrome, a rare condition for which, as far as I know, there is no medicine.
The ritilin I take is no stronger than a can of beer, which I won't drink because it has the opposite effect.
IMHO FReepers care more about others than the do the liberals, who, a lot of them, wouldn't mind if you shot yourself. However, there is a bad side in that with a high level of caring usually comes caring enough to have some harsh and unjustified judgments.
