Call these 5th column SOBs. How dare they denegrate our men in Iraq. These boys probably should be trained to be jailers and interrogators instead of punished for pushing around the enemy. This is not your Grandfather's war!

Let me start by saying as a vet I have very mixed feelings about this war and the "mode" we're assuming in the world at large.
This said, is this the best they can do? Is it some kind of profound scandal that we made them do a "pyramid" and tricked them into thinking they'd get an electric shock?
I'd say that's pretty civil... so what if they're humiliated. Have the rules of war changed to where we can rip a human body to shreds but we can't hurt anyone's feelings?
I honestly don't get it.

War is ugly amd terrible, but sometimes inevitable, and must be fought with dillegence to victory.
We send innocent kids to do ugly and terrible things to other people who are trying to cause them harm.
I am a vet. What our troops do to win this war is their business. Things are happening over there so that we can remain free. All they ask of us is our respect.
They have mine.

Gee
Does this even compare to what the islamoterrorist did to that poor civilian Italian captive and the 4 Americans they killed burned dragged thru the streets and hung on a bridge.
How quickly you've forgotten what these murderous bastards are like.
Wake up and smell the coffee folks. This ain't sh*t to what these vermin will do to you and your families while they continue to try to conquer the world for the religion of peace.

I don't live in a world where everybody is perfect, therefore it surprises me not in the least that there are some dunderheads in American uniform. These soldiers should be made an example of so that all American troops will have no doubt in their mind about how much pain will come down on their heads if they behave likewise.
It's a crying shame that American soldiers were not only dumb enough to mistreat prisoners in their charge, but that by memorializing their stupidity on film they gave aid and comfort to the enemy.

Bump comment:
Let's return the "respect" Nightline is giving to the dead troops.
How about getting some anti-homosexual Christian TV evangelist to read the names of gays who die of AIDS. We can even show their pictures, and maybe interview a few crying relatives.
Would the media see this as creepy? Tacky? Sick? Would they see it the way we see Nightline?

This was ALL OVER the german news last night and has given the opposition even MORE ammunition to use against us.
It is appaling that a few soldiers would commit such acts. It is even MORE appaling that the one soldier interviewed claimed he had no knowledge that this was wrong - according to earlier reports, this guy is a prison guard in civilian life. That alone should have been enough to let him know that such behavior is unacceptable. Furthermore, to claim ignorance of the Geneva Conventions (as an MP tasked to guard prisoners) is, bluntly, totally unbelievable.
A definate example must be made here. We need to show our citizens, the people of Iraq, and the rest of the world that the our military will not accept such actions and that when such things DO occur (as they will), that severe punishment is imposed on the perpetrators.

Complaint Phone Number for CBS airing of Troops mistreating Iraqi prisoners Why complain?
As has been pointed out on other threads, this hasrh treatment will make islamofascists think twice about fighting Americans.
But it will not have this effect if nobody knows it is occurring.
CBS is doing its patriotic duty.
So those who defend the actions of these miitary guards should also contact CBS and thank them for showing the pictures.

i stumbled on this forum while browsing a search engine. i am a vet. a disabled one. i served in the middle east. i sweat blood for my country. once a Marine always a Marine.
that being said... leave bush alone. its not his fault. you cant blame the president for the actions of a few. the reservists have no business guarding anything.
active duty military police trained as prison guards are the only ones that should hold those positions. they have more hours of prisoner handling training in a year than any reservist could get in 10 life times.
and as far as the "inhumane treatment" of those prisoners... lets talk about how the iraqi military likes to degrade, demean, demoralize, and break the spirit of the men they capture. male dominance is a huge factor in the treatment of their POWs. they break your spirit by "making you female". this includes rape. usually multiple rapes. and with a variety of objects.
i cant say that i saw this personally, but was briefed to me in a pre insertion briefing with my intel officer a few years back:
male POWs have been recently found dead with glass Coca Cola bottles found shoved in their anus... the bottles are usually broken... it is believed the bottles were inserted during interrogation and broken when the interrogation was over... regardless of any information given.
tell me again how i should feel bad for someone getting their picture taken.........
