Today: President Bush received Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson in the Oval Office to discuss regional diplomatic and security issues.

He told the press U.S. military commanders will take whatever actions are necessary to secure the besieged Iraqi city of Falluja.

After his recent strong statements supporting Israel, Mr. Bush is considering giving written assurances to Jordan's King Abdullah that the issue of Jewish settlements and Palestinian refugees will be decided in negotiations.

Tuesday: Mr. Bush spoke about improving the nation's health care system and saving lives through support of health information technology while visiting a Veteran Affairs Center in Baltimore, April 27.

Heads up: Tomorrow President Bush and Vice President Cheney will answer questions from the 9/11 panel behind closed doors, with no record or transcript by an official stenographer. Testimony will not be under oath.

Enjoy the Dose @ Sanity Island!

Barney is totally adorable, but I sure miss Spot.

I wonder if the President is going to get another spotty dog. Maybe he needs to wait a while.

It can be scary to talk in front of others! I've pretty much gotten used to it--I love to teach.

Ideas for your friend for graduation--a scrapbook for graduation pictures (if you're interested, I'll FReep you some ideas. That's what I'm making for two friends' kids who are graduating from HS this month). Picture frame for a pic of you, engraved with a saying about friends. Or yes, something practical for grad school. Who is going to be your roommate next year?

That's funny about the button--at least people are noticing!

Hi Ms.B--

Sorry you're alone tonight! I am too; kids and mr.h just got done with chores and are eating at the bowling alley. I'm ready for bed! I FReeped you earlier--

My class was fun. It was the last one of this series. I start a new class next week with all new pregnant couples!

What's the special session about?

The DEMONrats and their media enablers will be trumpeting the new CBSNews/NYTimes poll tomorrow. [Arm yourselves with the following FACTS about this poll before you venture out tomorrow1]

FACTS:

1.) This poll BLATANTLY skews left by oversampling/overweighting both Democrats and Independents:

CBSNews/NYTimes weighted sample:

Republicans 29%
Democrats 35%
Independents 36%

[Most experts agree that a.) genuine Independents constitute only 5-8% of voters -- the rest lean Democrat or Republican, and b.) Republicans/Republican-leaners and Democrats/Democrat-leaners split the rest of the voters 46:46!]

2.) Despite GROSSLY undersampling Republicans, the poll still indicates that the President leads Kerry among registered voters (CBSNews didn't even both to poll likely voters):

GWB 43% Kerry 41% Nader 5%

Among adults (not even registered or likely voters):

GWB 44% Kerry 46% (a decline of +2 for Kerry)

3.) The President's approval rating for handling the War on Terrorism INCREASED to 60% approve 32% disapprove

4.) Other Key comparisons:

Says What Believes -- GWB 53% Kerry 29% (+24)
Someone would like personally -- GWB 57% Kerry 48% (+9)
Shares Moral Values -- GWB 68% Kerry 58% (+10)
[The President leads Kerry in these KEY comparisons even though Republicans represented only 29% of the weighted sample!]

REMEMBER: THIS IS A BOGUS POLL DESIGNED TO ADVANCE BOTH THE LEFT'S ANTI-WAR AGENDA AND THE CANDIDACY OF JOHN F'N KERRY!

[We should ignore ALL polls for the next several weeks -- the current volatility in Iraq and the stock market will create A LOT of volatility in the President's approval ratings. NO WORRIES: The election is still 6 months from now -- THIS IS A MARATHON NOT A SPRINT!!]

That would be one of the many reasons I could never be a teacher. I like to talk to people one on one but I get so nervous speaking in front of even a small group.

The scrapbook is a good idea. But I gave her one of those the day she moved into her dorm freshman year. We weren't roommates then. I went to school about two and a half hours away but I transferred after a year. The picture frame might be a good idea. I'm not really sure what she'd need for grad school that she doesn't already have. Except for food and that should probably wait until just before she leaves. (Yes, I intend to give her a graduation present AND a present when she leaves.) I'm thinking the picture frame would be a good idea. She doesn't have a framed picture of us. And then I could give her a basket of food when she leaves. (Maybe a box of food.)

There's a company that engraves frames and lots of different things, and their prices are very reasonable. There's even a verse in the Bible about friends picking each other up--if you need the name of the company or the Bible verse let me know and I'll find them . . . the shop is in lots of malls around here but I don't know if it's nationwide.

And I LOVE the food idea, too! You can get her all her favorites.

re Spotty's replacement, if I were betting, I'd bet on another Springer. Springer's are a MAN's dog. Barney is just a little too cutsy, prissy. Don't get me wrong, Barney is a good fishing companion for Mr. President, but I would suspect he'd like a good huntin' dog. Springer's are great bird dogs. And, it's all in the personality. As much as I like the Scotty look, they are notably a very dour dog, who bond with ONE person. Not a sociable dog. (I speak in generalities). Once you've loved and been owned by a dog, you want another just like him/her. Yes, I would guess it will be another Springer.

I'm off to bed -- tomorrow is the big Bush-Cheney (Freeper)Party in the Columbus-area! I need my beauty sleep!!

You can read about these parties at
http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/04/28/loc_bushparties28.html

Excerpt:
The Bush campaign had set a goal of 2,004 parties nationwide. As of Tuesday, it had registered nearly 8,000 in all. Ohio had the most of any state, with 430, according to Kevin Madden, spokesman for the Bush campaign.

REMEMBER: IGNORE BOGUS POLLS AND FOCUS ON THE GRASSROOTS EFFORTS THAT WILL CARRY THE PRESIDENT TO VICTORY IN NOVEMBER!!

JUST GOT THIS E-MAIL AND IT'S TOO GOOD NOT TO SHARE:

This Restaurant owner is a hero

Only in America FM 100.7 (A local radio station) was doing one of their "Is anyone listening" bits this morning. This first one was, "Ever have a celebrity pull the 'Do you know who I am' routine? A woman called in and said that a few years back, while visiting her cattle rancher uncle in Billings, MT., they had occasion to go to dinner at a restaurant that does not take reservations. The wait was about 45 minutes. Lots of other rancher types and their spouses were already waiting.

In comes Ted Turner and Jane Fonda. They want a table. The hostess says they'll have to wait about 45 minutes. Jane Fonda asks the hostess if she knows who she is. "Yes, but you'll still have to wait 45 minutes." Then Jane says, "Is the manager in?" The manager comes out, "May I help you?"

Do you know who we are?" ask both Jane and Ted.

"Yes, but these folks have all been waiting already and I can't put you in ahead of them."

Then Ted asks to speak to the owner. The owner comes out. Jane again asks, "Do you know who I am?"

The owner says, "Yes, I do. Do you know who I am? I am the owner of this restaurant and a Vietnam Veteran. Not only will you not get a table ahead of all of my friends and neighbors here, but you also will not be eating in my restaurant tonight or any other night. Good bye."

Only in America, what a great country! To all who received this email. This is a true story and the name of the steak house is Sir Scott's Oasis Steakhouse 204 W Main, MANHATTAN, MT 59741 (406) 284-6929

The story left out one important part. The owner of the restaurant told TedTurner that he was a Vietnam Vet and that he (Ted) would be welcome in his restaurant but Ted would have to get that bitch traitor out of his establishment because he would not serve her under any circumstances. I live part of the year in West Yellowstone, MT and eat from time to time at the Oasis. Best Wishes to all of you, Mike Letson.

Yes, please give me the name of the company and the verse. That would be great! I just need to find a picture. (Or have another one taken.)

Let's see...what are her favorite foods? She'll definitely need popcorn. That's a staple. She likes Cheez-its. Anything with Winnie the Pooh or Spongebob...

I'll have to think on the company name. It's just not coming to me right now. Remind me if I forget!

Here's the verse--"Two are better than one because they have a good return for their work. If one falls down, his (her!) friend can help her up!" Eccles. 4:9-10 I like the thought of friends helping each other up.

For the food basket--soup and a mug, for when she's sick. Don't forget chocolate!
