"U.S. officers say they face about 2,000 fighters"

This is stressing our military? What is going to happen if you get 200,000 Iranian or 2,000,000 North Korean infantry swarming in? The type of Army we once had, comprised mainly of single young men who were focused on being good soldiers/sailors/marines/airmen would have disposed of this long ago. We have too much tail, too much day care costs, too much family care plan, too little combat projection. Close the day care centers on post and resume the draft.

I was on assignment in South America 5 years ago on a mission that required protection by a squad of 6 Seals. We had disembarked from our helo near a small village. We were told that there were hostiles in the village. When I asked how many, we were told "about 100" armed trafficantes. The Seals were supremely unperturbed. When I asked their squad leader why, he simply told me, "we have them outgunned and outnumbered". The concept of "2,000 fighters" can be daunting to many civilians, but I can tell you from my experience, the Marines on station are more concerned about where to put the Iraqi bodies than the live fighters.

Maybe you can lead the charge into urban warfare against 2000? You sound pretty tough here on FR...
