Hello, I'm the new guy

Hello, I have lurked since last june but finally decided to join. I also lurk on the Dallas Cowboys newsgroup and a few others. They have a lot of political discussions in the Cowboys newsgroup, especially during the off season. Someone posted a link to here last June and I've lurked every since. The reason I finally decided to join was to post what I saw on there this morning. This guy is a regular in the group and frequently fights with the lefties. I just love this response to one of them. This is from a guy named Barry in response to a trashy Pat Tillman article.
"To be fair, I doubt everyone on the left feels this way. Just as everyone on the right isn't a racists Nazi.
I do worry that more and more people are starting to feel this way, and that's freaking scary. The left in this country is FAR more vocal in their views than the right. We've reached a point in this country where Christianity is considered a joke, and believers are called, radicals. We're afraid to even speak about racial issues for fear of being called a racists. God forbid you have a differing view on homosexuality than the left, if so, you're a homophobe. We've come to a point where the people who want to save unborn babies are considered, oppressors, and those who are pro-choice are called, champions of justice.
You know who I blame for this? Us, it's our fault. It's the fault of every person in this country who has a moral core. I don't give a damn if their Republican, Democrat, Christian, Jew or Atheists. Our silence is the cause of this. We've been so afraid to, "rock the boat" that we've lost our moral compass.
If John Kerry gets elected in November, we'll deserve it".

I'm not quite so pessimistic. Most of the things you list can be traced to the boomer generation, which is on it's last legs. Younger generations are much more conservative than their parents. That's even considering that people tend to get more conservative as they age.
