April 27, 2004 -- Diabolical al Qaeda terrorists confessed yesterday to plotting to attack the U.S. Embassy and other targets in Jordan with sophisticated chemical bombs that could have wiped out 80,000 people.
Azmi al-Jayousi, leader of the terror cell, said the fiendish plan also targeted the headquarters of Jordanian intelligence and the prime minister's office.

It would not be an exaggeration to say that should Kerry be elected, this is the kind of attack we can expect.
I'd like to see an ad using Kerry's words and then showing the headline and major points of this article.

I saw those pictures! If that attack had ever happened, the aftermath of what a war between the east and west would have looked like would have made WWII pale in comparison.

The silence is defeaning. A terrorist just admits on national television that he plotted with an associate of OBL in Iraw on using WMD, and virtually no one in the press has mentioned it. ASTOUNDING!!
They are consistent, at least, Peach. Let's hope a few more members of our free press wake up and smell their evildoer, oppressor 'allies' before it's too late - for them.

Someone could postulate that more decisive action would be taken if 80,000 Jordanians had been killed.

"Andy Gellar"...........................
Nice use of the word "Diabolical".
Typically only used on comic books these days.
Well done!

...said al-Jayousi, who had marks on his face and neck. These marks probably did not say "18th street rolling crips'. They were probably from beatings and tortures inflicted on this fellow to get him to talk.
Therefore, anything he says should be dismissed out of hand, no link from al-Queda to Iraq has been shown, George Bush's tax cuts to the rich should be repealed, abortion should be available to children on demand, we need affirmative action mended, not ended, and Bush lied to the American people and should be impeached. Neutron bombs are NOT fallout free. The construction of the bomb ENHANCES neutron generation, but by no means eliminates other "fall-out". Using a "neutron bomb" would still render the target area with a radiation problem, though it reduces it by a factor of (I guess) three or so. I don't know where the idea came from that a "neutron bomb" constitutes a wonderful panacea only eschewed because of "political correctness". You are under the influence of misinformation, and are continuing to spread it.
All that being said ... I DO believe there are viable scenerios in which nuclear weapons (enhanced radiation, or simple dumb "dirty" bombs) ought to be powerfully considered as a leading alternative.

The more the press fails to mention it, the more impact Pres.Bush's ad campaign will have when he uses this teensy bit of ignored information...

* CBS News reported last night that the top U.S. commander in Iraq, Gen. John Abizaid, is "worried" and "down" about what he says is "a deteriorating situation" without any good options. From See BS. Yeah I believe this. Sure.

According to Glen Beck this morning the meetings began as early as 1999. He was going off the taped confessions of the terrorists. Have not heard it anywhere else so take if for what it is worth.

Wow! You said it! That is a truly haunting prophecy about Damascus... If someday a nuclear weapon erases it, there certainly will be a few more believers tallied up with that passage.

".........* A building in Baghdad, which may have been used to make chemical agents, exploded in flames as U.S. troops and WMD inspectors broke in to search it. Two soldiers were killed........" Interesting connection: This raid may have been based on specific intelligence gathered by the 'debriefing' of the plotters.

I don't think I would hold this up as "stopping a WMD attack". Stopping a massive toxic chemical release, yes, but until and unless we hear that there are precursors of VX, or other binary chem weapons, or some "chemical weapons" like mustard gas included in this wonderful cocktail, I believe it is slightly overplaying the story to state this as a WMD attack (although it certainly would result in "mass destruction").
hmm ... maybe on second thought ... it would be wise to overplay this a bit and see what the OldMedia (great designation) and Demodogs would respond to that.

The silence is deafening. A terrorist just admits on national television that he plotted with an associate of OBL in Iraq on using WMD, and virtually no one in the press has mentioned it. OTOH, ABC Radio did tell us today is National Hairball Day. [No I'm not kidding, that was the important news item today.]

Anything that would kill 20-80,000 people is a weapon of mass destruction.
There are so many threads on this that I don't remember which one but a transcript of CNN's terrorism expert was on last night and he talked about sarin gas and nerve gas as being among the 71 chemicals that were found.

I have been hampered in keeping real good track of things like this lately: I really depend on pings from good FReepers like you, RCgirl, kattracks, etc. to the most critical stories these days.
If sarin was included in the mix, I'll agree unequivocally that means the term WMD is correctly used. I was objecting only to using that term for a simple mix of chemicals such as acids and caustic agents that are commonly available (even in my own basement), and not as incredibly deadly as the chemical weapons are.
Thank you for keeping me up to date.
