Officials: Flames From Fourth-Floor Fire Are Suspicious
Investigators Think Fire May Have Been Started After Burglary

HOUSTON -- Arson investigators are trying to determine what caused a suspicious fire early Monday morning at a five-story building in southwest Houston.



The building on West Bellfort at Westbrae caught fire around 1 a.m. Monday.

Firefighters said the building's sprinkler system helped put out the flames. They said the entire fourth floor has water damage.

Investigators said the fire might have been started after a possible burglary. They said if that is the case, it would be the building's second burglary over the weekend.

Authorities have no suspects in the blaze.

Here is a new and frightening article from NEIN

26 April 2004 - Analyst Laura Mansfield discovered a posting on an Arabic language forum frequently used by known terrorists this morning that contained a very specific threat against US military forces in Iraq. The posting began with the following ominous quote: "The Mujahedeen Poisons Handbook: For poisoning the supplies to the American soldiers surrounding Al-Faloga".

It included links to an encyclopedia with step-by-step directions on how to produce and deliver various toxins and poison, including Ricin, various formulations of cyanide, and even Botulinum toxin. The document discusses the minimum effective dosages and also discusses means of delivery, including how to deliver them via transdermal means - through the skin - so that an act as innocuous as touching a doorknob could deliver a lethal dose.

WMD hunters ambushed in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Iraq, April 26 (UPI) -- An explosion that killed al least three U.S. personnel in Baghdad was an ambush of a top-secret unit detailed to search for weapons of mass destruction, United Press International has confirmed.

The military initially claimed that a detail of U.S. Army soldiers were about to raid a suspected bomb making factory when two were killed after an explosion. Several Iraqis in the area at the time told UPI that the building exploded when the soldiers tried to enter the house.

I caught the tail end of a local news spot tonight about a local school where a class of children had been taken to the emergency room after eating small red candies from Mexico that a student had provided. The children had gastric problems and the hospital checked their blood levels.
