A Missing H-Bomb Lies off Georgia's Coast - but Is It a Danger?

There seems to be nothing special out here. But beneath the ocean floor near this city, an aluminum cylinder lies entombed in silt. It's like an 11-foot-long bullet with a snub nose and four stubby fins. Written on it, its name: "No. 47782." Enclosed in its metal skin: 400 pounds of conventional explosives and a quantity of bomb-grade uranium.


No. 47782 is an H-bomb - a Mark 15, Mod 0, one of the earliest thermonuclear devices developed by the United States.
It has rested off Savannah since 1958.

For nearly 10 weeks, Navy divers searched the waters near Tybee Island. The weather was bad, the water cold, the visibility poor. On April 16, 1958, the military declared the bomb "irretrievably lost."

The bomb became one of 11 "Broken Arrows" - nuclear bombs lost during air or sea mishaps, according to U.S. military records.

Four months after Richardson's accident, the Atomic Energy Commission changed its policy, banning the use of nuclear bombs during training.

As Duke was learning all of this, he turned up a copy of the receipt Richardson had signed. Written near the top was the word "simulated." That, according to the Air Force, meant the bomb did not have a detonation capsule. Without it, there was no risk of a nuclear explosion.

That might have been the end of the story if not for another document Duke soon acquired.

This one was a letter, written in 1966 to the chairman of the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy, recounting the testimony of Assistant Defense Secretary Jack Howard before a 1966 congressional committee.

Howard, the letter says, testified there were four complete nuclear weapons, including detonation capsules, that were missing or lost. Among them: the bomb dropped off Savannah.

Decades later, Howard recanted his testimony after Duke gave the letter to the media and elected officials.

But which version was really true?

Accept My words as truth. I am about to do something catastrophic. I am about to get the world's attention in a catastrophic way.

Remember this, beloved: This will bring about GOOD results. This will bring about results that will expand My kingdom. Remember: This will be a GOOD thing. It will not bring disaster to any heart that is focused on Me. It will be a GOOD thing, beloved child.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Souter Attacked During Jog


May 1 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter was assaulted by several men while jogging late yesterday, a court spokesman said. Souter was treated and released from a hospital, the spokesman said.

``He sustained minor injuries and is feeling fine,'' said court spokesman Ed Turner.

Souter, 64, was jogging shortly after 9 p.m. Washington time when several men attacked him, Turner said. He was taken to Washington Hospital Center by court police, where he was examined. He was released at about 1:30 a.m. today, Turner said.

Souter was appointed to the nation's highest court in 1990 by President George H.W. Bush. He is a former justice of the New Hampshire Supreme Court and former attorney general of New Hampshire.

Turner wouldn't say where Souter was jogging, describe the nature of the attack or the justice's injuries.

The Greenbrier has been locked down but only for the
casual, non registered guest visitor. The public
explanation was to keep the local and tourist riff raff
off of the grounds so as to protect the privacy of
registered guests and members of the exclusive housing
development known as the Sporting Club (million dollar
homes which include Clancy and Travolta among others).

The Hotel still welcomes regular guests, conventions,
and offical gatherings along with local events such as
the prom for the local Greenbrier East High School.

The bunker tours have been suspended, and there is local
speculation that the facility was never really closed but
rather mothballed for potential future use. Many of the
people who ran the bunker for the Feds under the guise of
the TV repair company Forsythe and Associates, have
retired in the local community which could lead one to
believe the facility is indeed on stand by status.

However, in the event of an actual NBC attack on DC,
the bunker is just to far from Washington for use in
an emergency evacuation, even by air transport (one
small airport that can barely handle 737's and ground
terrain not condusive to helicopter avaition in the
absence of ideal weather conditions).

The only clandestine use for the bunker that I could
imagine would be for storage of governmental archives
or use by the lower levels of the shadow government.

Sounds like a possiblity. I am wondering if nukes could be stored there at the Navy Base. I'm also wondering how the jihadies would approach the area. From the water, most likely.

A similar incident occurred in New Jersey several weeks ago. Freeperfromnj probably has the information. I recall that approximately 6 brush fires were set, near a major highway- I think it was I 95. Traffic was backed up. Interestingly- there had been alot of rainfall in the area- not conductive to SIX brushfires in that location.

The 5 1/2 minutes also caught my attention. I've never experienced an earthquake...but I can't imagine how scary that must have been for those who did.

Re- planet and moon.

I agree- Osama overlaps the image of the moon.

I think that the image to the left is the Earth. A few of us took a look at it last night. It seemed to me that maybe the "bright spots" shown on the earth would signify explosions.

Possibly huge fires from nukes or other.

I was trying to figure out which continents were depicted and the locations of the blasts.

Maybe someone could enlarge the picture?
