Hello, my name is Derrill Swick and I am the Sergeant-At-Arms for the 2004 Republican Party of Texas Convention. This promises to be an exciting year for Republicans at the state and national level. I am thrilled about the prospect of another four years of great leadership under President Bush.

As most of you probably already know, Texas holds one of the largest conventions in the nation. This year promises to be no different. Texans know how to do it big and the city of San Antonio is proud to be the host city for this year's convention on June 3rd-5th. Delegates have been chosen and everyone is gearing up to celebrate being RIGHT, by being a Republican.

If you did not get a chance to be a delegate, there is still an opportunity to take part in the convention and all of the fun activities that surround it. I have been selected to head the Sergeant-At-Arms Committee and I am in need of some motivated Republicans to help out. I will need 100-150 Sergeant-At-Arms recruits to assist the state committee in showcasing the talents and ideologies of the many voices throughout Texas.

As a Sergeant-At-Arm you will be an important part of the convention's success.

The Sergeant-At-Arms will:

* Monitor seating of all participants at the various events * Maintain control of the floor shows, trade show and caucus meetings * Provide support for the banquet * Have fun meeting all the great Texas Republicans

I am creating the schedule now and will provide you with an opportunity to join us for the entire convention, an entire day or just a shift or two. There will be training provided on Wednesday, June 2nd.

Ilm already a delegate, but the only reasonable on-site hotel is already booked (La Quinta @ a mere $139/night). Trying to figure out alternative lodging that is under $200. I will probably find a cheaper hotel further out and drive in.

Wouldn't mind doing it again. Can't make any Wednesday training session, though.

Don't forget that all GUESTS at the convention will be charged a one-time $25 entry fee for the whole convention. A Sgt-At-Arms is a volunteer - not a guest - so if they are willing to work and help a little, they can take part and save $25.
