Teresa: Abortion ends a life

Teresa Heinz Kerry

WASHINGTON - Teresa Heinz Kerry says she's pro-choice but believes abortion is "stopping the process of life," it was reported yesterday. "I don't view abortion as just a nothing," said Heinz Kerry in an interview with Newsweek, in which she took a side in the long-festering debate over when life begins.

The comments on abortion by the wife of presumed Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry came during a weekend where an estimated half-million people marched in Washington to support women's reproductive rights.

"My belief - and I maybe am very wrong - is that women, generally speaking, do not want to have abortions," Heinz Kerry said.

"With the exception of people who are mindless - and there will always be mindless people of both sexes - most women wouldn't want to," she added.

Heinz Kerry once said that she was "not 100% pro-choice," but told the magazine that now the issue is black and white for her.

"I ask myself if I had a 13-year-old daughter who got drunk one night and got pregnant, what would I do. Christ, I'd go nuts," Heinz Kerry said.

Asked if he shares his wife's views, Kerry told Newsweek, "I do not know the answer to that. We've never - she's never had to vote."

Kerry appeared at an abortion rights rally in Washington Friday, saying, "Abortion should be rare but it should be safe and legal. And the government should stay out of the bedrooms of Americans."

Both husband and wife agree that she is more traditional in her values than the Massachusetts senator, owing to the fact that she's five years older.

"He's of the generation of the Beatles, and that's the line of demarcation," Heinz Kerry said.

KERRYTHINK:
To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which canceled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget whatever it was necessary to forget, then draw it back into memory again: and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself. That was the ultimate subtlety: consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed. Even to understand the word "Kerrythink," involved the use of Kerrythink.

So she's saying that abortion is murder, but she's for it?

It's not 'murder' ... it's a sacrifice to her demonic 'god'.

I think she's against abortion, unless it's her kid. And I think she is afraid to say she's against abortion because her husband is running as a liberal democrat seeking the presidency.

I'm curious about that since its kind of hard for the fems to say aborting females just because they are female is ok. Did Difi say its ok to do that after being reeducated? It always interesting to see the pretzels pro aborts twist themselves into when that fly in the ointment is brought up. I recall some legislation to ban ultrasounds to determine the sex of preborns for just that reason.

Ah, to hell with my wife's opinion, since she has never had to vote for me.

What an a$$!!! She truly is just his means to an end with all her pickle money.

This statement is beyond idiotic. It floors me that this man is actually a serious contender for the presidency.

I thought he was implying that she never had a 13 year old daughter needing an abortion, so she didn't have to make a decision about abortion!

Gee Teresa, how long did it take you to figure that out? And this rag has the nerve to call Bush "empty headed"?

My party controls the House of Representatives.
My party controls the Senate.
My party controls the White House.
7 of the 9 current Supreme Court Justices are Republican appointees.

My party will stop abortion the same day the Democratic Party starts respecting Black Americans.
PB or any other limits on abortion are easily side stepped with the right of medical privacy.

Good for you Theresa!

Abortion is not about saving women’s lives!

Total Abortions since 1973

44,670,812

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)

The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions — California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abortion Statistics - Decision to Have an Abortion (U.S.)

· 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing

· 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby

· 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child

· 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy)

· 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career

· 7.9% of women want no (more) children

· 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health

2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So how many women’s lives have been saved by abortion?

Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be “due to a risk to maternal health.” A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But let’s say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women.

Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.

Post 35 would seem to indicate sex selection in the US as a reason for abortion isn't even on the radar screen. Anyone have an idea of how many abortions are done worldwide annually? The roughly 1 to 1.5 million per year for the US is well known here on FR.
