I don't think it ever got to the point that married men with children were being drafted. During WWII yes, eventually, I'm pretty sure.
But not during Vietnam. Anyone else remember this?

My brother in law was a married school teacher and he joined the NG to get out of being drafted. The truth is lots of men did this.

I don't think it ever got to the point that married men with children were being drafted. During WWII yes, eventually, I'm pretty sure. Married with children automatically got you a draft classification of 3A. You didn't have to request it, it just showed up in the mail.
You were then spared the horrors of war, but not necessarily the horrors of marriage.
