SANTA ANA, California (AP) -- More than 100 brands of candy sold in California, most of them from Mexico, have tested positive for dangerous levels of lead in the past decade and little has been done about it, a newspaper reported.

By next week it will all be Bush's fault. We can't even keep illegal aliens out but the leftists will want more border patrols to find poison candy.

For the last 30 years at least I have been cinching lead weights to my fishing line with my teeth. I played with liquid mercury like it was jello. I melted great big pyramid weights with a propane torch and breathed the fumes because it smelled good. I wash my hands in gasoline when they're greasy. If I'm siphoning some gas and get a mouthful, oh well. I don't expect to live forever, and what life I've had is far better than the nanny state we have today.

This is the reason I make sure things we buy (food) don't come from third world countries with no quality control.

You might be surprised how much of the everyday candy like peppermints and bubble gum are made in Mexico and repackaged in this country.

Don't get me wrong, I've done all those things too, except for siphoning gas and getting a mouthfull, and probably some more that you haven't considered, but simple prudence would recommend avoiding all those things.

El Presidente Fox is not going to like this report!! He makes a cut (nowhere near as much as with dope, illegals or kerrorists, of, course) on every candy sold in the US. And, he'll get a cut of every class action suit won over the next 25 years on behalf of every Mexican kid potentially damaged by eating some of this candy.
The beauty part is that the class members suing never really have to have eaten any of the canday nor have ever been in the US. All they need do is CLAIM they ate some of the lead based candy in the US and Mexican mendacity will do the rest. ALL claimants will have one or more matricula cards issued by the consulate in Los Angeles (well, at least they'll be stamped to look like they were issed in LA). It will be another of the massive Mexican lies about how the gringos screwed us again. And, Foxey gets a cut of everything.

I know a guy in his 50's who used to chew lead when he was a kid...something about it tasting good.
He claims no problems but his kid Has Turrets.

There is no law in California. As you can see, 100 manufactures are importing stuff that has been illegal for 20 years! Have no fear, your tax dollars will pay for all medical costs.
To: Kay Soze
raw ingredients were carelessly tainted with lead before being shipped to factories, where unsafe manufacturing procedures were commonplace. I wonder which ingredients were contaminated: apples, chili powder, or some other ingredient? If the candy contained lead, perhaps other food might have contamination, too, whether from heavy metals or from other toxins not obviously visible.

I meant imported food from countries with lower standards for food/water safety and chemical controls.
