During the NBC tv reporting of the related story, they showed the photo of long lines of flag-draped caskets which was printed in the newspaper.
A Democratic Rep was interviewed and he said that these type of photos are needed to expose the realities of the war.
A fallen soldier's father said that it was just one more painful reminder and he had already gone through seeing his son's flag-draped casket. Seeing the photo of rows of the caskets coming back from Iraq, was inappropriate in his opinion.

A Democratic Rep was interviewed and he said that these type of photos are needed to expose the realities of the war. And this Democratic rep would undoubtedly decry Bush using clips of 9-11 in his advertising--'realities' be damned.

I know that now. Many are the smartasses on this forum. I apologize.

I cannot comment on the appropriateness of the pictures.
I look at those pictures and see my brother, or sister, or son. I silently offer a prayer for each one.... Not of sadness of but of gratitude.
Those brave men and women remind me of the cost of my freedom. I give thanks for their sacrifice and send my love and prayers to their families.

I need another option.
Though I know the person who took the photos wanted to turn me against my president, I am glad I saw the pictures, and the solemn and dignified respect paid to our fallen soldiers, even when no one is supposed to be watching.
If it were one of my own, I'd like to think I would still be heartened to see the dignity with which my loved ones were treated on the way home...

I know I did. That decision should be ultimately left with the families - not with the media and not the Pentagon, as neither the two have paid the price as the families have and will.
