If true, is this an argument for the scrapnel being so small as to not be worth the effort to extract it? Bingo. Both the type of treatment he received, and the "well it could have blinded him if it hit him in the eye, so there" comment sound exactly like the "shrapnel" was just a flying sliver.

... a skin rash and a minor urinary tract infection during his four years in the Navy...Nothing a little shot of penicillin won't clear up, now stay out of the bars for a week?
Right --a shot of little shot of penicillin would clear it up. But I wonder how many little shots of penicillin he had to take?
Also, I wonder how many 35 year old, Lurch look-a-like, Amerasians are running around in Vietnam? Hmmmmmm? Just a thought

This just doesn't add up. Nope ... another question is .. why does HIS doctor reading this report to the reporters?

John Kerry doesn't have a piece of shrapnel in his left thigh, his family does. LOL...Thanks, a good laugh is always enjoyable :o).

Yes the "war hero" received a Purple Heart for a serious "wound" requiring Bacitracen.
As a Vietnam Vet I am sickened by this piece of trash.

The whole thing does seem a little goofy.
Nineteen reporters are allowed 30 minutes with the doctor and get to see a "file." No copies are allowed. No one knows who saw them or how many documents were involved; no one knows is the records are complete or authentic.
And? The first part of the actual *released* records are someone else's.

Doyle noted that if the shrapnel had hit Kerry in the eye, it could have blinded him
While Kerry was back home badmouthing our Vietnam veterans, my Uncle was in Vietnam receiving shrapnel in his head which did blind him in his left eye. My Uncle was also doused with agent orange and died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma which doctors believe is due to the agent orange. My uncle came home from Vietnam and didn't ever speak ill of anyone in the military. Who is the real hero here? Just because Kerry is still alive to brag about his shrapnel in his damned leg does not make him a war hero. He lost his hero status when he came home and accused our vets of rape, torture, etc.

Hawkeye: Why are you getting a Purple Heart?
Frank: I got a shell fragment in my eye.
Hawkeye: It was an egg shell, Frank!

Kerry still has the shrapnel in his thigh today, but has never complained about it bothering him. Does this sound believable?
The part about never complaining about it is not the least bit believable. The man does nothing but whine.
I don't know about the doctors not removing it, though.

The whole thing does seem a little goofy. And why is his doctor reading this file to the reporters .. are they that stupid they can't figure it out?
And who were the reporters that were allowed to view them?

Thanks to all of you for cheering me up tonight. Your comments were some of the funniest I have read in a long time. Thanks again.

Now, now, JFKII did not have VD. It would have been impossible for him to contract such a disease. Everyone knows that VD is a disease of the privates and he was an officer.
But one must remember that the rank of jg is the equivalent of a SP4 in the Army, so maybe he did have a dose.
I'm only kidding, but it sounded good.

Right. Not making light of any scrapnel injuries. But Kerry himself has made these war injuries and purple hearts the centerpiece of his campaign. And, as I understand, he hounded his commanders to give him the awards. So, as citizens we should be able to clearly understand the circumstances in which he "won" them. If true that he hounded commanders for these awards, this should be publicized. I heard this from dude on Boortz show today so I don't have the proof.

Doyle said if the shrapnel had hit Kerry in the eye, it could have blinded him. Yes, and IF it had hit him in the head he might be dead and Hillary would be the candidate.
Yes, and IF it had hit him in the groin, he might not have any kids.
And IF a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his ass every time that he hopped.
What's the point?

And Doyle said Kerry's third Purple Heart came from a dangerous situation on March 13, 1969. He was treated with a tetanus shot, topical dressing and an ace bandage and advised to apply warm soaks to his right forearm. OK I'm reading that as getting the PH for the tetanus shot.
