There are a lot more like him....135,000 of them are in the Iraq theater alone.

He was, indeed, and exceptional man. I would never dispute that! But I am also convinced that our honorable Volunteer military is loaded with honorable men and women whom we take for granted ... and sadly, I've met one or two who were not so honorable. The current American military is unlike anything that has appeared on planet earth in human history, a super power force of truly benevolent desires and working under a collective banner of honor, duty, and country, but without contempt for those caught in the middle of hostilities necessary to the survival of the free world. Unfortunately, the democrat party leadership, and their prime movers in particular, do not see that truth and hold our honorable military citizens in contempt, mainly, and our nation's super power status in contempt, particularly!

Did he play in the '97 Rose Bowl?

It just rips my heart out. Selfless heroes like Pat cut down in the prime of life, while hate-filled, obese slobs like Michael Moore continue spewing their venom while simultaneously inhaling meatball & cheese subs. Don't worry about Michael Moore. His fate is to be Michael Moore for the rest of his life and all eternity.
That is a fate far worse than death in the service of America.

Here in Iowa we have a stadium named after Nile Kinnick who died in WWII. Pat Tillman is a hero along side Nile Kinnick. I can't think of a better tribute than to name the new stadium in Arizona after him.
To: Imal
You're right, of course. I actually regret even including that scumbag's name on an American hero's thread.
But it provides a powerful contrast.

Yesterday I wept over the loss of a great man, 2nd Lt John Thomas Wroblewski, USMC, after reading his story and seeing the photo of his brave bride
here on FR. Today I weep for another brave man, Pat Tillman.
I feel such sadness for the loss of them both, and for the loss of all the brave soldiers who have died to protect and defend this great country, the best country that has ever existed on the fragile, twisted, savage earth.

My heart hurts today.
7thson, your post is spot on. When I was growing up in Indiana, I can remember hearing stories about Ted Williams being stationed at nearby Bunker Hill NAS (now Grissom ARB). I also remember reading about Hollywood stars and professional athletes joining the services during the wars, and thinking how special and heroic they were. How things have changed.
Pat Tillman must have been a throwback to those times. I am thankful for his sacrifice.
BTW, I am a long-time lurker, first-time poster. I regret that it took such a sad event to bring me online.

Yep ......one of hundreds of good Americans that made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation to ensure their families future safety from terrorists and enemies of freedom.
Bless em all.......Stay safe !

I understand. We either fight the war where the Terrorists are now to get rid of
them or we do the clintoon thang (nuttin') and let them bring it here with even
more terrible weapons than planes and buildings - like WMD, nukes,
biological, etc. ....
