When I was substitute teaching years ago, an irate student picked up a desk and tossed it out a second-floor window.
I calmly looked out to make sure it hadn't hit anyone, then called the office and went on with the class. The city police arrived a few minutes later, handcuffed the miscreant and hauled him out of class. He couldn't believe he was actually being arrested but he had celebrated his eighteenth birthday just one day earlier and was now subject to the same treatment as (other) adult criminals.

Good for you, in so many schools, the office would not call police on the advice of a teacher, much less a substitute. Where I used to teach, some seniors celebrated graduation early by throwing a couch out a third story window. The english teacher never noticed. Different outcome.
