Teacher resigns after (ordering) girl tossed out window

A teacher at a Newton County school has resigned after officials say she admitted she told two students to throw a 14-year-old girl from a classroom window.

The teacher, a 63-year-old Conyers resident, was not immediately arrested after the Monday incident, which took place at Sharp Learning Center. But the Newton County Sheriff's Office is investigating.

The student, whose name was not released, was taken to Newton General Hospital on Tuesday night for neck pains and cuts to her body, said Newton County Sheriff's Office investigator Marty Roberts.

According to an incident report by resource officer Brian Chiappetta, the incident took place in the morning during second period. The students were in class when the teacher took a photograph of some of the students, the report said. When the girl asked why the teacher had taken her picture, the teacher allegedly responded with a disparaging remark about the girl's appearance.

The girl became upset and began to use profanity and hit the office assist button on the classroom wall, the incident report said. The teacher then allegedly told two 14-year-old boys to pick up the girl and throw her out the window.

The two boys later told principal Kenneth Daniels that they threw the girl out the window because they did not want to be written up for disobeying a teacher.

The teacher resigned Wednesday, Roberts said.

Roberts said he has been told that the school board will leave it up to the girl's parents to pursue criminal charges against the teacher. But he said his investigation is ongoing.

"I've had incidents involving schools, but I've never heard of such a thing where the teacher instructs students like this," Roberts said.

Sheeple.

"According to the students, when the victim asked the teacher why she had taken their picture, she allegedly answered by saying, “So I can show the world your ugly a----.”

If this is true, the teacher should be fired. Now. Escorted out of the building and not permitted back in.

This is totally inappropriate behavior for a teacher.

It might be that the student was sitting in a provocative posture to pi$$ off the teacher.

The photo was for her parents.

The girl couldn't talk,

all she did was shout.

So we opened the window,

and threw her right out.

Don't become unruly,

don't say a curse word,

or we'll open a window,

and you'll fly like a bird.

Provocative posture? right. So what. If it was inappropriate, then send the miscreant to the disciplinary authorities. But, taking a photo without permission is not permissible, and having the kid put out the window is not only not permissible, but criminal. I say the teacher does hard time.

Let me run this one past you: I had a teacher in high school who used to make the girls go in front of the class or just his desk, get down on their knees, and beg forgiveness because they were female.

The girls could also beg for higher grades if they screwed up on tests, quizzes, or didn't do their homework, etc.

Did they hire this teacher from a Saudi Madrass?

"then send the miscreant to the disciplinary authorities"

Who's to say this hadn't already been done in the past? Also, you end up with a, "he said, she said".

Take the photo as proof. Then, give her a ten-day suspension for mouthing off.

Out the window is a no-no.

And none of the girls reported this to their parents? Didn't anyone flatly refuse to go along with this nonsense? Unbelievable. You surely cannot think this was appropriate? You don't have to be a feminist to believe teachers should treat all students with respect and should not humiliate students.

Teachers such as the one you describe should be fired and permanently barred from the classroom.

I don't know if it was ever reported. I'd assume there were some complaints, he did this for years. There was a write up in their local paper a year or two ago about how great he is, recognizing his long teaching career.

Didn't really matter what he did, he was a winning coach (for a girl's sport).

Ah, a coach. The supreme triumph of sport justifies the most outrageous behavior. He's lucky he didn't have my daughters in his class, because I'd have sent them in wired and gotten the whole thing on tape, then sued his and the school district's ass off. Absolute cretin, that guy.

If the students who threw the girl out of the window also explored their sexuality with her, then it's OK.

He printed a long banner and put it up in the back of the room at the top of the wall. I remember it: "Men are superior, women are inferior". Believe it was quoted from Aristotle.

Among the apologies for being female, girls had to recite this quote almost daily.

We had a teacher in our school system who fell out of a second story window twice. The principal finally gave him a classroom on the first floor.

I truly don't think anything is going to happen to this girl. Her parents will probably sue the shinola out of the school district after they treck it through criminal court.
