Kournikova Sued by Parents Over Home

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Anna Kournikova is being sued by her parents, who say the 22-year-old tennis starlet has taken over the waterfront home the three jointly own.

Sergei and Alla Kournikova filed the lawsuit last week in Miami-Dade Circuit Court. They want the seven-bedroom home "partitioned," meaning they want money for their share of the home. It was purchased for $5 million in 2000.

Her agent, David Schwab, said Thursday he was unaware of the lawsuit and had no immediate comment.

Kournikova, who has never won a tournament and is known mostly for her supermodel looks, has not played competitive tennis in more than a year because of injuries.

The question is how much were the parents worth BEFORE she became a star?

How miserable it must be to be called a "tennis starlet" and have all news reports point out that she "has never won a tournament".

She's got money, but not respect.

?????Anna has won many tournaments, and has risen as high as no. 4 in the world. She doesn't have any singles grand slam titles, but she has won a few grand slam titles as a doubles player. Thanks for the post, any Anna post is a good post, but I wish they could get their facts straight.

That's a total lie. See my previous post.

More than likely a permanent condition.

Well, that settles that. If she can't play tennis, she can't hang out with me.

I don't think Anna has ever won any professional singles title, not just a grand slam title.

I don't think Anna has ever won any professional singles title, not just a grand slam title.

Here's an excerpt about her first year 1996 which shows otherwise:

Anna's first years as a pro were restricted by recent WTA rule changes that limited the number of tournaments that minors could play in. So she played in only 6 WTA events in 1996. In her first Grand Slam appearance, the 1996 US Open, Anna reached the 4th round before she was defeated by Steffi Graf 6-2, 6-1. Anna also appeared in four International Tennis Federation-sanctioned tournaments in 1996, winning two of them, at Midland, Michigan, and at Rockford, Illinois. And in the first Fed Cup "tie" of 1996, she became the youngest player (14) to compete and win in Fed Cup competition, helping Russia defeat Sweden 3-0. Anna began the year ranked 299th. After ending it ranked 56th, she won the 1996 Sanex WTA Tour Most Impressive Newcomer Award.

I think her looks are more porn star than supermodel. Supermodels are not very sexy.

ITF tournaments are not on the PTA tour. A golfer doesn't have a "win" until they win a PGA tour event.

Here's a link. Sports Illustrated knows what they are talking about.
