April 22, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - An adviser to Iraq's government told Congress yesterday that at least three documents show the former head of the United Nations' oil-for-food program pocketed millions via sweetheart deals with Saddam Hussein. Benon Sevan, a Cypriot and U.N. undersecretary-general, is cited in separate documents indicating he received vouchers allowing him to purchase 7 million barrels of oil at reduced prices, said Claude Hankes-Drielsma, a British adviser to the Iraqi Governing Council.

The first Oil For Food story that I saw was Tish Durkin's and came out in 2002. This scandal's been brewing for at least that long. Where was Congress? They vote to provide taxpayer funds for the UN. What did Congress know and when did they know it?

Not only do I recall that story, I believe there's a link to it in the "click the pix" links.

Thanks! So where was Congress? I'd really like someone to ask Kerry about Oil For Food, what he knew and when he knew it. As far as I'm concerned, the people who profitted from this scam ought to beside Saddamn in the dock. This isn't just about money, but what was done to the people of Iraq.

Well, one of them, Detroit businessman Shakir al-Khafaji, is the guy who paid for Scott Ritter's little documentary.

I absolutely agree- they were almost literally taking food from the mouths of starving people. Anybody ought to be outraged by that.

Not to mention aiding and abetting a mass-murdering dictator and terror sponsor. The people who were in on this have blood on their hands, too.

They certainly do. When the whole flap over Iraq erupted I attributed the reluctance & hostility of our alleged allies to our cause as being based on fear of the unassimilated Muslims amongst them- and I still believe that was a prime motivator. However, it seems apparent now that money, too, contributed to their foot-dragging.

I should have know $$$ would be involved, as the most primal drivers of human beings are fear and greed.

I don't want to see just an investigation. I want to see prosecutions. And if we don't have the guts to do it, I hope the Iraqi people do. Especially if anyone tries to shove the UN down their throats again.

"The very fact that Saddam Hussein, the U.N., and certain members of the [U.N.] Security Council could conceal such a scam from the world should send shivers down every spine in this room today."

The UN is a club for bureaucrats to use government for deals and trips. A modern dictator can easily utilize the bribe and business favor factor to maintain power.

Add easily manipulated mainstream journalists and the Democratic Party and you have a web of corruption capable of doing anything to pull in cash and fulfill favors.

Don't think for a second these folks won't use terrorists if they think it will work a deal.

Not only would I pull funding from the UN, I would pull all funding from Russia as well as move all US troops out of Germany to Iraq.

Let them have a hungry Russia at their doorstep.

I'm holding out for tumbrels and the guillotine, myself- angry mobs of offal-throwing peasants, the "snick" of the blade, rolling heads...

WOOOPPPPPS. John Kerry wants to bring the UN deal makers BACK TO TAKE CONTROL. VOTE KERRY. PUT THE UN BACK IN.

Worse than this Iraq MEDICINE FOR UN BUREAUCRAT OIL COMPANY is the fact that there are several countries the UN is ignoring where millions of people have been slaughtered.

Journalists will never be able to hold back the flood gates now. The UN, Hillary Clinton and John Kerry are socialist bureaucrats that seek deals with dictators and power through manipulation AND TERRORISM IS AN OFFSHOOT OF THE UN'S APPROACH.

Every soldier in Iraq is protecting the entire world from the alliance of mainstream journalists, Democrats, Terrorists and dictators.

Anyone wonder why journalists and "World Leaders" hate George Bush? He's a country boy from the South that opposes the terrorist, Democratic Party, UN BUSINESS NETWORK.

Hankes-Drielsma stopped short of saying those on the list took bribes, but said the list's publication "raises questions why there are people on the record as having received oil contracts who are not actually oil traders.

"The very fact that Saddam Hussein, the U.N., and certain members of the [U.N.] Security Council could conceal such a scam from the world should send shivers down every spine in this room today."

Confronting a CRIME SYNDICATE is not for the spineless.

Criminals are anti-freedom.

The discovery of this information should be sending "shivers" down the spine of the criminals.

Instead, they laugh at us.
