Whilst many countries are in the process of withdrawing their troops from Iraq, Denmark is considering a marked increase in its Iraqi engagement, as the Iraqi government takes over the control in the country june 30th.
The Army's Operational Command, HOK, is currently negotiating with British coalition forces in Southern Iraq over a massive increase of the Danish area of responsibility from the current area north of Basra to including the entire area down to the Kuwaiti border, except for Basra proper which will remain under British command.
The the main Danish base, Camp Eden, would be moved to the British base, Al Shaibah, west of Basra. This expansion will place the Danish forces in the middle of a new and large area from which Danish soldiers will support and control the Iraqi police and security forces after the handover june 30th. It is thought that some British units will be under Danish command.

No problem.
It's mr. Twit, but I prefer Euro.
Don't know why because they quite often seem synonymous :-)

Denmark should be embarrassing France, Germany and some of those other countries. But maybe they have no shame??

No.
I think their current contribution is 500 men, a submarine and a corvette.
The corvette caused many laughs here a while back.
Fot the record, it is a ship :-)

There's not something rotten in Denmark!
To: ScaniaBoy
Yeah, Denmark has impressed me lately.
I am not so happy about Norway which now seem certain to leave Iraq by the end of June. Apparently Kofi Annan has stated that we are more needed in Sudan.
Sweden I think is best left unmentioned :-)
Well, except for Per Ahlmark. Have you read his new book?

That probably maxes them out, as far as force projection goes.
It looks like we will shoulder the burden pretty much alone.
So be it.
I can support that for a time.
God help the world if Atlas ever shrugs!

Well here is one quote you can look forward to:
"Off course the Ayatollahs laughed as heartily at Blix's naivite in Iran as Saddam previously (and subsequently)in Iraq. They know that the weapon which Blix is capable of discovering has yet to be invented."

The muslims have been raping Danish women.
Obviously, the Danes have intact spines, and can see a battle that must be fought.
Racially the Danes and Norwegians composed the bulk of the Vikings, including the Normans. From their small numbers, they were responsible for big events in history.
(Swedish Vikings mainly went east and had big impact on Russia, too).

"Denmark to increase their Iraqi forces"Ahhh, Denmark, the land of the vikings...
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa-ah!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa-ah!
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
The hammer of the gods,
Will drive our ships to new lands.
To fight the horde, singing and crying:
Valhalla I am coming!
On we sweep with threshing oar,
Our only goal will be the western shore.
Aaaaaaaaaa-ah!
Aaaaaaaaaa-ah!
We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs blow.
How soft your fields so green,
Can whisper tales of gore,
Of how we calmed the tides of war.
We are your overlords.
On we sweep with threshing oar,
Our only goal will be the western shore.
So now you'd better stop,
And rebuild all your ruins.
Peace and trust can win the day,
Despite of all your losing.
(With kind thanks to Mr. Led and Mr. Zeppelin)

Danes are good folks, but I can tell you one American of Danish ancestry I wish would go back to the old country. He touts his ancestry quite often on National Propaganda Radio (NPR), Garrison Keillor.
