Detroit Free Press ^ | 4/20/2004 | Some idiot editorial writer

Edited on 05/07/2004 7:13:26 PM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

As the area's premier community of immigrants, Hamtramck surely should be tolerant of different cultures. But in this city where church bells regularly ring, some residents are up in arms over a request that the city's five Muslim mosques be able to broadcast daily calls to prayer.

Are we do dumb to think that the muslims would let America set their time to pray? They settled for 6am but as I understand it the time by the Koran is something like 4-5am.

I think they are winning a huge battle right now.

The editor of this artlcle suggests that the other residents of Hamstramck would sell their souls to the devil for a tax base.

As someone has already mentioned, what about the people who work night shifts?

Sorry Imam's and city council, but that's the way the bell tolls.

Fair enough, but the bells are not piped through an electronic amplified loudspeaker.

That is endorsed by the Hamtramck city council.

Is the ACLU filing a suit?

amicus curi ("friends of the court") for the Mosques.

Gee, with a little help from Radio Shack that can be fixed.

I doubt it, it does not fit their agenda.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean...I'm slow sometimes, especially when I'm hot mad, like I am after reading this.

I hope people realize how serious these victories are for Islam in America, and do something about it when they can!

Islam does have an agenda in this nation--and they appear to be winning, just like homosexuals. We cannot lose America through capticulation and political correctness!

Basically what I said is the ACLU is filing on the side of the Mosques. Remember Anti-Christian-Liars-Union.

"other residents of Hamstramck would sell their souls to the devil for a tax base."

Looking at the areas peopled by these types, and by their "communities" in Europe, can't help thinking they contribute precious little to the tax base. POint of fact, i daresay they are a net drain, particularly when one considers the costs of their "protests" and "asserions of their rights".

they're noisy, irritating, militant; the worst kind of neighbors. Wonder if the Hamsandwich council allowed this to avoid the "slaves of Allah" paying them a private visit, if you get my drift.

Are you implying that islam isn't peaceful?

I get your drift alright. Probably a little payola went to some of these council members.

Imagine how interrupting this could be to your daily lives. Such as talking on the phone with a bad connection when all of a sudden all you can hear is foreign languages for 2 to 5 minutes. What about night shift workers?

I don't want foreign languages piped through my house 5 times a day 365 days a year.

Not that it's not peaceful; I'm sure it is. But I can't help noticing the bad luck visited on every non-Muslim nation with Muslim neighbors:

buses explode, etc., with alarming regularity.

Yeah, I dug you the first time. I just added payola as I am from south Texas and that is what it takes here.

Is anyone else surprised that there are so many Muslims in a town whose name starts with "Ham"?
